Google announced that "What is the EU?" is the second top UK question on the EU since the #EURefResults were officially announced.

Can't wait for that question to be in the form of the past tense.

Fact is that Scotland voted for a UK that was part of the EU. We aren't any longer. They also have a 'get out ' clause as the status of the U.K. Has changed.

She will call for a new referendum, almost certainly get it, and if the Scots overwhelming remain vote from last night is any indication of the outcome, she will win it!...

SNP lost their independence referendum, lost the Brexit referendum and now pushing for another referendum.

That's not how democracy works, surely. Just keep holding referendums until you get the result you want. Fascist bastards.

That is what was written into the 2014 referendum agreement, apparently.

The Sweaties were persuaded to vote for a UK within the EU. Now we're not!.....

We may well be witnessing the start of a protracted break up of the U.K...

I'd be happy for them to go. I'd walk over to Wallsend and start rebuilding the wall now, if I had my way.

I'm just sick of the way they are going on demanding referendums until they basically get what they want. It was supposed to be a referendum of a generation.

Yea, let them go if that's what they want. I really don't care and am sick of their whining.

I've already explained it to you multiple times, I don't understand how you aren't grasping it..

1)a) the SNP do not have a majority in the Scottish Parliament and as such any attempt to push for another referendum will be blocked by the other SMPs who do not want to leave the union.
    b) Scottish elections happened in May so it's another five years before the SNP can attempt to gain a majority by which point we could have a different government, we could have deals in place with the EU etc...
    2) Even if by some miracle they manage to get the legislation through the Scottish Parliament, they then need to get a Tory government who have already given them a recent referendum (where they voted to stay) and who have just had a referendum backfire on them, to approve the result of said Scottish referendum. There is no chance the Tory leadership will allow themselves to be known as the party who pulled out of the EU and then allowed Scotland to leave the UK
    3) a) if they manage to achieve the above unlikely scenarios they then need to actually get a vote of independance in the referendum. A million more people voted in the last Scottish referendum compared to this EU referendum so clearly it is more important to the Scottish people to be part of our union than the European one.
    b) the last Scottish referendum failed to put forward an economic plan that the Scottish people had confidence in and since then oil prices have dropped to below half the 2014 price and are more volatile, quite simply put the economics of a Scottish exit don't work.

It isn't going to happen no matter how much the SNP sabre rattle.

I've been doing a bit of rummaging around on foreign news sites, particularity the American ones, and they are largely saying it's a fluctuation that was liable to occur, but particularly with the vote, and no matter what the outcome had been, as it's a global issue.

They're suggesting it's short lived, and fuelled by global events, the strong dollar and hysterics of people that bought in to the project fear nonsense.

They need a currency that other countries can trust before they can trade with them too, plus if the EU exists at all, it'll be a different beast to the one they weren't keen on going alone into last time.

    Read what has been written!!

There was apparently a clause in the 2014 referendum agreement that if the position of the UK changed that it would enable the Scots to call another referendum!

The SNO, whisky falling just short of an overall majority in their parliament, are by a long way the largest party.

The Scots voted overwhelmingly to remain in the EU.

Given that Sturgeon has already requested another referendum, and apparently under the conditions of the old one, she can do that, she will most likely get it!

As the Scots voted to,stay in the EU, the chances are very good that she will win this next referendum!...

It's Friday!! The markets have gone flat - that's position wise, for the weekend. As the markets are not open at weekends, they run no risk of not being on board any major events. They will assess what's been said and done over this weekend and the fun will start again on Monday....

No there wasn't a clause in the 2014 referendum. The clause you are referring to was actually a manifesto pledge from the SNP in Mays elections. There is no basis for them to call a referendum without it going through all of the required channels just like last time.

The SNP don't have a majority and as such won't get the legislation for a referendum passed, all the other parties are against it.

The scots also voted overwhelmingly to remain part of the U.K. with more people voting to stay in the uk than those voting to stay in the EU and voter turnout of a million more people.

There are no conditions from the old one allowing her a new referendum and she will almost certainly not get a new one.

And if she did, for the reasons I've already listed it is very unlikely the Scottish people would vote to leave.

    You are wrong.
