Firstly we don't play to suit Benteke sof I really wouldn't want him at the club.
Secondly he has to be £100k+ and there is no way we would pay that much for someone of his ability. Would be very poor business

Yeah I forgot about Ibe. Not an issue though, because I wouldn't want him - especially not if we're getting Redmond.

And I ignored Allen because I don't class him as an attacking player. And besides, he's neither a replacement for Wanyama nor a goalscoring upgrade on Davis.

My thinking is that we get £25m to replace Mane with, plus a striker who - if he rediscovers his Villa form (and I refuse to believe that he's lost it altogether) - finally provides us with that 20 - 25 goal a season option.

I too would rather keep Mane. But unless we get top four, I don't see how that can be option. And finishing in the top four will arguably be harder than ever, given the competition.

Just been on the Liverpool forum, many don't really rate Mane and think hes only an average/good player, and think 30 million is an overspend. But then go on to say they think Joe Allen is worth 20 million<doh>.

Not sure how we will ever progress if we keep losing players to teams fighting for the same positions on the table

I think people who don't rate Joe Allen maybe havn't seen him play enough. I'm a Welshman who is just back from watching our 3 qualies in France and Allen has been the standout midfielder for Wales not only in France but throughout qualification and for 3/4 years now. He completely dictates the tempo of a game, works incredibly hard and stops/starts attacks with relative ease - I think he'll stay at Liverpool and have a great season but I do think he's worth £20m (not to us perhaps as same role as Clasie but certainly to many top teams).

Very good player. He's much more accomplished in the BPL (and itnernationally now) than Clasie.

By making them pay way too much for those players, and then those moves don't really work out for them... while in the meantime we take their cash and invest it wisely in even better players than the ones we lose.

I still haven't warmed to Clasie tbh, not doubting his ability but I just think he's to light weight for the PL.

I will be extremely disappointed if we sell mane.
We are not going to have any hope of growing a group of players if we sell them mid contract. It is one message selling them in their last year but quite another to sell before that

Pelle isn't solely a target man. There is more to his game than that. We didn't play to suit Lambert but it was the same scenario then, he is more than just a big striker. Players like Benteke and Carroll can be very effective but only when you play to their strengths.

What else does Pelle give then? Lambert we played to his strengths a lot of the time. That was getting the ball into feet and feeding other players in. He was great at peeling off to the far post too for headers at goal. Please don't tell me that Pelle offers that ball into feet like Lambert did when he dropped a little deeper.

That's my point. I have said the whole time Graziano was here, that our best style of play didn't suit him. He is closer to Benteke than to the style where we looked our best. He had his moment chesting a ball off to someone, but in terms of showing as a front man to have it to feet and hold it up, he was just not good. His strengths are of the same style as Benteke.

Pelle's positioning is superior to Benteke's. His movement is also better along with his finishing. Pelle is a more rounded player than Benteke although they do share some similar traits.
