An overwhelming Birmingham victory was Remain's last hope.

We did all expect a drop in the pound upon a leave vote. You've told us enough times :p

The name of the game is stability now, we need the government and Cameron in particular to be strong and show a united front. The Bank of England will be having meetings currently about how to deal with the market volatility. Whatever people think of Cameron I think we need to hope that at least in the short term he doesn't melt and give up power but rather gives off an air of stability and readiness to approach this new task as an opportunity.

Stability!!! Have you looked at global markets! It's ****ing chaos! The BOE will have to step in and start printing money. Liquidity is drying up faster than never before. Money is leaving the UK at an alarming rate!...

I didn't say things were stable... I said we need to try and achieve stability and act with confidence.

The Scottish and (I presume without having actually looked into there individual situation) the Northern Irish, aren't in an economic position to achieve independence successfully as it stands. The first point is that the SNP don't have a majority in the Scottish Parliament so wouldn't get a referendum passed through there own parliament, secondly the Uk government won't give them another referendum having had one so recently and with the Europe referendum just carried out and thirdly if they did by some route manage to get a referendum the previous Scottish referendum failed to achieve independence based on the economic argument not being strong enough and at the time it was based on high and stable oil prices which are now volatile and less than half those levels, the economics of an exit simply doesn't work.

The dollar and yen are currently seen as the only safe havens...

The previous referendum they voted to stay. But, having voted quite strongly to remain in the EU, there's a very good chance that Sturgeon will win the new referendum that she will undoubtedly push for.
