Maybe I think those safe standing are as bad as seats, maybe I wanna jump around when we score, dance in the terraces when we're loosing 4-0 doing the okey-kokey, I suppose we could still do a conga, but it would be a **** conga. "everyone follow the line and enjoy your corporste entertainment" The thing that made terracing dangerous was that the terracing went from the top to the bottom, without a break, the whole weight of the crowd was on those in front. They could've kept the widths the same, but divided the depth into 8-10 sections, stopped the danger, and kept the atmosphere.

They're slightly better than what we have, but I don't think the safe standing barriers we keep seeing pictures of are the answer.

They still limit the ability to move round and interact with fellow fans. The social side, and ability to wander round was a big part of the occasion.

Unfortunately that won't happen. As far as I am aware the safe standing areas in Germany have designated standing spots just like having a numbered seat. Which saves arguments and the rule of the fittest deciding where they and others should be as used to happen on Kop ends around the country.
Laughable to read police saying they don't want safe standing as it could see a return to surges, fans rampaging and confronting each other. Where would they surge and rampage? They can only move sideways on one level so even if they tried to confront away fans it would be a row of one to one confrontations down the side of any separating fence. Even Humberside Police could deal with that and arrest and ban any City fans whilst ignoring the away ones.

As Castro says, other than the odd cup game at a lower league ground, we're not going to see unreserved seating/standing return.

It's going to be hard enough to get the authorities to allow standing officially, without them also losing the ability to know where everyone is.

It's more likely to be a big, **** off thermos flask full of cocoa than a hip flask full of grog.

I can assure you it's a hip flask of whisky.
I don't need cocoa to help me sleep, City's tactics this year helps on that score<party>

My favourite tipple for consuming from a hip flask is 1/3 brandy to 2/3 port.

    Try it.

    You just might like it.

    That's different.
I am going on a cruise very soon.
I will get them both on the drinks package and try that.
What made you try that concoction?

A lass at work recommended it.

It's hearty, medicinal yet smooth and easy to drink.

Not as harsh as a single malt and with both port and brandy coming from the grape they compliment each other.

My mother introduced me to port and brandy as a remedy for an upset stomach. It worked ... I got pissed and stopped caring about my stomach.

Makes you wonder why some nervous ninnies amongst fans, supporters groups, SAGs and police have gone on about the dangers of surges, a return to the bad old days etc...Apart from terminal stupidity.
