It always happens. Someone either breaks through into the first team or an existing first teamer suddenly steps up to the mantle beyond expectations. Last year it was obviously AOC, but who will it be this year? Seaborne? Forte? Martin? Chaplow? Reeves? Doble? Anyone else?
My heart wants it to be Seaborne as he is getting some unjust stick atm. My head says Cork. We could pin our hopes on De Ridder but Cork is proven in this league.
I'm going to stick my neck on the line and say Dean Hammond... He's trimmed down, had a great pre-season and I reckon he's going to step it up for us. I know people will disagree with me; but from the last two games, the midfield looks lost without him.
It will be tough for Doble, Reeves and so on to break in, but possible. If we are in mid table at the end of the season, get a few injuries or have a cup game we don't want then they might get a chance. Luke Shaw is another one who I have heard good things about. I'm sure Nige will be looking for places for them to play on loan if they need to play.
I think it could be de riddler, somethings tells me that AOC is more concerned about getting injured and missing out on his big move, maybe he wont put in 110%!!!!
I think Schneiderlin will have a great season for us this year, think he will be more suited to this division than League 1.
Looking for thoughts on those who will "surprise" us. I know he's unproven at this level, but he IS proven as a footballer to us.
Hammond. Already underrated, and I think he will surprise us, what with having to compete with the likes of Cork, Morgan, Chappers etc for CM.
I feel there are a few that could stand out in the championship, Lallana, Lambert if he starts well, but seeing the clips of de ridder, looks very exciting at thi9s level!
I hope that you're right - he will have to raise his game, or else I reckon Morgan and Cork will end up as the first choice centre mf pairing. I'll probably get some stick for this, but I reckon Dan Harding could be our surprise this year. He's experienced at this level, and if he cuts out some of the mistakes, then I reckon he'll be important for us this year. Big if I know, but still.
