I don't understand why there has been so much uproar over the BBC/SKY deal.

everyone knows that the BBC has had cuts imposed upon it by the government. why is anger not being directed at them instead?

also the deal that the BBC has done looks good. half of all GPs STILL live and extensive highlights of the rest.
I wish that half of all cricket test matches, half of all premier league football games, half of all major golf tournaments were on free to air TV.

ok I am not a F1 fanatic and only have a passing interest in the sport but I think there has been an over reaction to what compared to a lot of sports these days is actually a good deal.

It's because channel 4 made the same offer as sky, but BBC chose Sky and went to Bernie with it.

BBC I reckon know sky will fail with the numbers, where as channel 4 could become a potential rival in the future.

All in all better it be C4 with adverts than spending £600...

My reasoning is because, as an agency of the government, it is effectively the government handing giving Murdoch precisely what he's been after in order to continue to exploit this population of ill-informed people - at least in part due to Murdoch's insidious propaganda itself!

In other words, they are all essentially in on the deal with Bernie. Furthermore, this could lead to Flavio Briatore taking over at Ferrari who, some time ago, were very keen for News Corporation to take over!

They're all getting what they want and they all get a piece of the exploitative pie, at the cost of the British tax payer and Licence fee payer. It's a scandal, particularly under the current circumstances with the ongoing Murdoch investigations.

I've noticed that it's casual fans of F1 that don't see what the fuss is about, this is why the BBC can get away with brokering this kind of deal and put a positive spin on it, like it's a good thing. Shocking.

You say the above, but lets look at the Beeb in the last couple of months. Almost 1 BILLION pounds on a white elephant in Manchester that no one wants to move to, 22 million for 'the voice'. supposed chasing Lily Savage from ITV, where he's paid around 8 million. Dont get me started on the salaries paid to 'stars'. If they want to save a few quid i'll read the news for them too, stop paying people 1/2 a MILLION pound to read the news, I'll do it for 150,000 and I'd do a 12 hour day for that.

I'm sorry but where does anyone think this is a good deal, I'll tell you what you can only have 2 weeks of World Cup( saying that England never manage to get past the first 2 weeks anyway) so no loss there.

I still cant believe how bloody angry i am at the decision.

Welcome - although (like me returning) it's not a very happy point to have to make in your first post.

Yes, that £22m on The Voice is particularly galling as the cost would have paid for F1 to stay as it was. Worse still, it looks like the Beeb are repeating an old mistake: remember Fame Academy?

No? Then I'm not surprised. It cost the Beeb a packet and they believed it could compete with and sink Pop Idol. But it was Fame Academy that bombed.

Anger is rightly being directed at the BBC. In fact that's where most of my anger has been directed at. Rather than drop F1 altogether and allow Channel 4 to take the whole season, they wanted to keep crumbs of it and seemed happy with 10 races per year. It was unbelievably selfish. That is a shocking move and a real "up yours" to F1 fans.

Oh and Max Whiplash thanks for pointing out the next TV sham called The Voice. BBC making cuts to quality programming for **** programming. Oh how low the Beeb have fallen. This is the lowest ever and I really hope The Voice gets pummelled in the ratings.

We all know that The emperor (Murdoch) has Darth Cameron in his pocket. He can do whatever he wants in britain, and none of us can stop them.

There is, dont buy the package. I'm going to miss F1, started watching with my dad when James Hunt brought the title home back in the 70's and I refuse to pay murky any money. Phone hacking aside, his companies are unscrupulous to say the least with a healthy amount of tax evasion. I remember them paying 1 pound in tax 1 year, I paid more in 1 weeks pay packet than they did for a year.
