Oh man, this is out of control. Just take the few negative postings in this little thread about ROI/Eire/whatever and forget the positive ones - now just mention those negative ones and let them get around by hearsay and the impression you are left with is that those negatives constitute the mentality of all englishmen towards Ireland, - would you be so gullible as to accept that hook, line and sinker? For every negative you troll up from years gone by I am sure there are many positives. "Catholics don't want to support NI" - where did you get that from? Wasn't McIlroy at the NI games. Didn't great players like Pat Jennings play for them. Didn't George Best once go and play in the horrible ROI for Cork City? Your statement is out of the same stable as "all NornIron rugby fans support Scotland." Both are just general BS statements and can be easily refuted.by looking at the makeup of NI football team and Ireland rugby team. Get balanced information whether you are discussing Paddy, or Pierre(all French men are garlic chewing sweatstained peasants you know - any man that wears a beret is definitely having an affair with your wife - I heard that on the TV once so it must be true); Herve (all Belgians are beer swilling depressed types - they don't like us you know, I heard that from a local in Ostende, so that is the truth about all Belgians); Juan from Spain is a total lazy do nothing type - he just likes to frequent the t..ty bars and comb back his slick greasy hair. Manana is his catchword. Get back Jock you haggis eating kilt wearing highland whiskey swilling b...tard. There are just no upstanding nations like Blighty.

Meyler played the role that SB uses him for to perfection
Made the game exciting though...ROI would have won at a canter if he'd actually played

We are not talking about footballers but the bigots, of which there are plenty who live in Ireland. There are of course bigots elsewhere.
What George Best playing for Cork has to do with all this I don't know.
There are plenty of things wrong with Blighty. Folks like yourself for a start.

Apparently the Swedish coach is quoted somewhere recently saying that his team would top the group. He must have received that forecast from Melisandre.

Can you provide me with the official eurostat figures on the number of bigots in Ireland and also in other European countries for comparative purposes - I just wish to verify your statement as I do not like grovelling - but I will do so as I am a man of principle.

Good post. After all of the blather and caution over the BREXIT thread, it is surprising how far this has been allowed to go. Although it is good that the Jocks are having to endure this, the ****s them ... <whistle>

There are bigots everywhere, including some serious ones on this thread. The Jocks have always been our international derby game, no more than that. Some take it too far, you're one of them and it seems Galante is another. True colours. :emoticon-0114-dull:

We are talking about the attitudes when it comes to football. Not everyone is a football fan. A bit complex for simpler minds to grasp perhaps. I can't stand some football clubs' fans, doesn't mean that has any impact on my feelings to the residents of their cities.

When I read "Rossy" I thought of Jonathan Ross, although that would be Wossy.
    Rosenior is usually Rosey

A reminder that the no politics/no religion rule remains in place on here, the BREXIT thread being the only exception. This thread will be locked if there's any further posts that breach the rules. Ta.

You really believe that is expressed on here? You believe The Troubles, nationalism and religion are a good combination to express football support and rivalry? Nothing to do with simple minds grasping it, but everything to do with bigoted minds promoting it.

Bit harsh though innit? Croatia win their group and play Portugal, Italy win their group and play Spain, we finish 2nd and play Iceland.
