For once I am in total agreement with you. Nice to see players with a City connection doing well but Ireland is just another foreign country. Their TV and papers wouldn't be ecstatic over England doing well the way ours are over them doing well.
Not only do they not want us to do well but the Catholics in NI don't want ourselves or Northern Ireland to do well.
Someone I once worked with was in Northern Ireland during a tournament years ago and was amazed at the hostility towards the England shown bynthe Catholics in NI.

Aye, how dare I be pleased with some of our players doing well! Disgraceful behaviour really.

<laugh> You've been sucking Ireland's cock on this thread more than any other person...

From what I hear Sir Cheshire, they were very neutral and while they banter they are not vitriolic - there is a big difference you know.

Which one of 'our' players did well
    then?

What an idiotic statement to make.

I am, my son is there and he said most of the Irish lads (as far as he could see) wanted England and Wales to win

Positive, our neighbours across the Irish Sea love England, the're rooting for us all the time & in return we should be ashamed for not doing likewise.

    Forget the political history
    Forget the bombs
    Forget the murders
    Forget their supporters behaviour
Forget the long line of **** players I dislike.
Forget Roy Keane being one of the biggest ****s ever in football
Forget how ****s like Cascarino lied to cheat International caps
Forget that they're two bob ****s

Forget it all & love them. Top o the mornin' to them all.

    Potatoes.

Must be torture for the Scots.

Firstly seeing every other GB & Ireland country qualify for the tournament leaving them to watch on TV, cock in hand.

Then, just to rub it in, every single one of these countries manage to do what they’ve failed to do in every single miserable tournament they’ve ever been in: qualify for phase 2.

How odd then that they have a Roman Catholic manager and I wouldn't generalise about all RC's, some do and some don't. Leave the sectarian **** out of it.

    Funny that.

Almost as if things aren't the same now as they were in 1990, or something.

That goes against every experience I have had in my 44 years on this planet when it comes to supporting the England team.

We are hated by the Scottish, Welsh and Irish.

    And every ****er else.

I suggest you tell the Irish and the Scots to leave the sectarian **** out of it.

And your statement is daft. The Northern Ireland FA is showing a lack if sectarian bias, unlike the Catholics in NI who not only want us to fail but NI as well.

That is a good question. One that someone hoping to be a sports journalist should be able to answer.

I wouldn't disagree with the first bit of that, and the statement isn't daft at all. They picked the best manager in their eyes and his faith shouldn't come into it. Don't forget it was the Loyalists that drove out players like Lennon and others with threats. I have RC students from Derry and and Belfast who openly state they want both Eire and NI to do well. Last word on it from me buddy...for a number of reasons I don't want to go down this alley.
