But, as ever with Hunt, it is not the most obvious things that he will remember from his time in the game. Nor would his most cherished club be the one you'd expect.

"When times are tough, I believed in myself, that'll be the proudest thing. To scoring my first Premier League goal, on New Year's Day against West Ham in a 6-0 win, to my career over here obviously, getting relegated and seeing the Hull fans back their team like they'd won the Champions League in a different atmosphere. That's why maybe I have the affection I have for Hull, the second half of the season and the fans were singing, 'I can't help falling in love with you', which, for that moment in that time, was so loving towards the players, fair play like, you guys appreciated the Premier League and the memories they've given you."

Hunt is now ready to appreciate his time out of the game.

He's cut his hair! Must have been 10 minutes watching him on championship highlights before I clicked who it was!

I found the same, not with Hunt but when i was watching the Play off final the pundits were Trevor Steven (or Stephen) and Mark Hately. I knew Trevor Stephen as he just looked older, but Hately was really brown and with silver short hair. I just didn't have a clue it was him until his name came on the screen, then he suddenly looked very familiar. Maybe i just hadn't visited Swan and Cygnett enough to recognise him.

I liked Hunt. What he lacked in skill he didn't lack in work rate and endeavour. Good player for us when fit.

He's a decent bloke - he tweeted after the Derby away game in the pay-offs how he'd just been reminded how good our support was.

Also I particularly liked the way he whispered a few words in Fraizer Campbell’s ear as the smarmy twat was mouthing off to us behind the goal at Sunderland shortly after he’d signed.

I saw that tweet as well Hornsea. The article surprised me he felt that way about City given he was only with us a short time but delighted we made that impression on him.

    My favourite Hunt moment...

I was thinking about this the other day - were Chelsea champions then? I think they were. If so, we've had 5 seasons in the top flight and played the reigning champions on the first game in 40% of those.

    That seems a lot.

This was 2009/10 season and just looking at the stats, Man U won in 2008/9 and Chelsea 2009/10.

That was a cruel loss, Drogba scores from a dodgy free kick and then a fluke cross in added time.

Ahh ok, I didn't check but I was sure from memory that we'd played the champions away and that was why it was live on tv. Why else would they choose Chelsea at home to us as the live tv season opener?

Edit - just checked and the 'newsworthy' element was it was Ancelotti's first game.
