To a certain extent you could say the same about Wales, but of course we know better because we know the strength of their individual players. However, as a team they have been impressive. I would also suggest that the Wales game was rather worrying for England.

England pretty much dominated that game, although it wasn't comprehensively done. In England v Wales, we actually had two Premier League teams, one superior in its individual players, on the whole, to the other. And it is of no real surprise that the superior players overall beat the inferior players overall, albeit with the input from the 1 player in 22 who could alter the game on his own.

But so far Wales are beating the teams from the continent who play differently to Premier League teams. So far England are having real difficulty. Which is the better team.?

NI will play Wales or France in next round (according to Sky Sports).

NI would have their best and worst chance against Wales. Best: because they'd be familiar with the Welsh players and so there would probably be a confidence in lining up against them. Worst: If both teams play to the best of their abilities Wales will beat NI, no problem. Wales would have play very averagely for NI to win, in my opinion.

    It's somewhat unlikely, but:

    - If Sweden beats Belgium.
    - Italy beats ROI.
    - Iceland beats Austria by a two-goal margin.
    - Portugal beats Hungary by one goal.

Then I believe that the bottom half of the bracket would be: Germany vs. Slovakia, Italy vs. Spain, France vs. Belgium, England vs. Portugal.

You don't need Italy to beat ROI for that scenario surely? A draw would be sufficient. You just need to avoid ROI winning, and dumping Belgium down into 4th place.

Also, as an alternative to your bottom two outcomes, Iceland drawing Austria, and Portugal drawing Hungary - but with Portugal scoring at least two more than Iceland - would presumably achieve the same necessity (ie Portugal finishing 2nd).

Meaning someone rated as outsiders at the start, Croatia or Hungary for example, could be one of the finalists from the other half of the draw. From what I saw of last night's Croatia v Spain match, Croatia counter with real venom. Only their nerves and unpredictable fans look capable of destroying their dream. I suppose the beauty of this tournament (unlike the World Cup) is that the underdogs and minnows do triumph such as Denmark, Greece and the Netherlands (although big in football terms, small in population compared with England, Germany, Italy, France and Spain)

After their last match, all the Portuguese players walked past the media....there was only player who stopped and spoke to them. Go on, guess which stupendously gorgeous player it was. :)

I wonder how many on this site would enjoy Telecinco's (a Spanish terrestrial channel) coverage of the EU tournament. Basically, they go to the match 10 minutes before kick-off and show the match. At half time and full time we do not have to endure the twaddle spoken by the experts on a British channel showing the same match, rather it is left to us the intelligent viewer to make our own conclusions. Half time is filled with countless adverts of cars in dramatic settings.

I don't think Croatia can be classed as an outsider. They have a very talented squad.
