Do you ever think you will get to the stage where you will boycott a game of some sort (long term, not this season), to deal with the owner issues? It has had mixed success with other clubs, and it is probably an option to whatever supporter groups you have.

Sorry for carrying on with these sort of ****e threads, I just wondered how badly you think the situation will become.

On another note, do you not think Twitter will eventually get banned from all people in football. It's just a coward's way to express your feelings, imo.

    Thanks for the 4 points,

    Rory.

Yeah there's no place for twitter within football. In any of our jobs you wouldn't expect to slag off your boss on a social networking site and still have your job the following week (unless you're self employed/maybe sleeping with your boss (live the dream)). It's tricky because I don't think the players should be banned from using it just like any of the rest of us but on the flipside if you see Joey Barton on Twitter you're going to ask him about football no matter how much he tries to sway the conversation towards his horses/Morrissey/Neitzche. There need to be more serious consequences than a fine because that as a punishment is laughable to these multi million pound earners.

Twitter is fine so long as it's not used to give away previously unknown but potentially significant to opposition info (such as Enrique's injury and missing a match), or being used to incite unrest among the fans (Barton). It's nice to get an idea of the players as people and hear what they've got to say though.

I'm not a twitter fan. If I was a manager there is no way any player would be able to use it. And I wouldn't give a damn about being accused of living in the dark ages or being far too draconian. The key is if you are going to allow it you get the player to sign up to an agreed contract whereby if he reveals specifics he shouldn't he's immediately banned. It couldn't work with Barton though as he wouldn't agree to it bec ause of his current relationship with the clubs owners.

Boycott? No it would never achieve anything. It may seem defeatist from the outside but the best thing the supporters can do is ignore all the stuff going on at higher levels and behind the scenes, and just support the 11 on the pitch. I'd also ignore anything to do with transfers in and out, budgets etc etc. Under this regime the supporters are fairly cut off from the club in many respects. there's no real relationship with the owners, no vision or understanding of a vision for the club. We just need to accept who is in charge for the time being, and accept that the club will be run in a cold and calculated business driven way. He has all the cards at the end of the day. The only thing we can affect as supporters is a Saturday afternoon, supporting the players to give their best.

    1. No, I seriously doubt any Toon fan will boycott a game, except if it is on sky which earns Cashley more than ticket sales anyway.

    2. I don't mind players using twitter, as long as it is to give an opinion, not just cause problems.

There will be a clause in most new contracts shortly banning the use of Twitter to directly or indirectly talk about the club.

Twitter will always cause a divide. The problem is the only things you will ever really get from players on twitter is negative comments in general because when things are going well thats what you expect.

Barton is being a little naughty tbh with what he tweets but hes probably as frustrated as us with things. We can say what we want when we want. But hes in a contract so he cant. Nolan has the opportunity to say how things are and has already stated some facts that dont sound good since leaving. Especially about his contract!

    Thanks for the opinions <ok>

I have a few on the twitter (Stuart Holden, Kevin Davies but now he's deleted that, Marcos Alonso and a few others) and whenever I asked them a question they were always keen to reply.

None of them post anything controversial so it is actually a good thing for some of the players to do, communicating with the fans at a personal level.

There are always exceptions though (Barton) that actually don't think about what they put on twitter, and that is why the question has to be raised.

He does think about what he's saying, this looks to be another part of his plan for twitter. After his new contract disappeared he turned to twitter to get the fans on his side against the board, and continues to do so.

Problem is, it will probably be working his 'plan'.

You lot might not be fooled, but that is because you are intelligent enough to debate, some people will fall straight into the trap and will listen to what he says.
