Vastly overrated but England's only world class player according to Alan Shearer ,he's been poor for England here and in recent friendlies too .
Hodgson's limitations as a manager were exposed for all to see last night. Muddled thinking in bringing back two players who have suffered long term injuries (Wilshire and Henderson) for such an important game. Our midfield was nullified as a result, with Henderson in particular displaying a touch that would have embarrassed Simon Makienok. In WC 1990 and Euro 1996 I don't recall Sir Bobby Robson or Terry Venables making six changes for a key match. Finishing 2nd in the group as a result means that England will have to face one of the big guns in the QF, meaning an early exit. Not good enough. Hodgson is a well past his sell by date, Cautious Colin, owl-lookalike, FA Yes Man, buffoon. It will be an affront to the Motherland of football if his contract is extended by the FA beyond July.
A NOTE TO WOY........ England are NOT Barcelona ...enough of this 'Tippy Tappy' possession football!!!!!! .............. play the Fecking English way with pace and power..... The England Rugby Union team had 30% possession on Saturday yet beat the Australians with ease.... Also, FFS Woy stop it with these pi55 poor whitewash press conferences... England were cr@p yesterday .... admit it and change things!! or just go.
There seems to be a policy on ITV not to criticise Hodgson at all. They end up coming out with things like "England will do better against teams like Germany and Spain because they'll get more space". Yes, seriously.! I don't expect to hear bile n vitriol from them, but at least comment on the fact that Vardy and Kane together was tried and failed already, so why revert to it? I was also hoping to flick between the England and Wales games, and don't understand why the England game was shown on 2 ITV channels.
Woy's wecord in the last 2 major finals is: WC - played 3, lost 3 Euros - played 3, drawn 2 (against poor sides), one lucky win against another average side with 92nd min goal In short - p1ss poor. When I watch Woy being interviewed on TV its like being transported back to the 70s, I half expect to hear David Coleman asking the questions. The guy has palpably had his day - just wait for the excuses when Portugal knock us out on penalties next Monday
The Best 3 up front includes Harry Kane, but he is now about as effective as Reza after 2 years of non stop football. Wilshire and Henderson are both massively unfit - not just the fans view but that of just about every pundit. As Smug Lineker put it, playing a tournament is all about continuity and building up a team spirit and settled pattern of play.
We have played well in all three games. We are through to the next stage. Let us see how well we do in the next round. Then I will judge Roy. There is so much negativity around.
Nope Nope Nope. England have been poor - astounded anyone argues otherwise. The only saving grace is few teams have yet to excel, though the French, Belgium, Spain etc have at least offered something in their opening 2/3 games. By the logic of ''let's see how we get on in the next round'' - well, if England are knocked out, will it still be deemed as ''good''? Because if they are knocked out it would be due to a poor group stage effort and make that point a non starter. They played 3 teams who offered very little going forward and not much better at the back, and they've stumbled through. False economy.
I don't agree that we have played well in all 3 games. We played well in the first half v Russia, and then faded, conceding a goal from a free header. We had lots of possession v Wales but didn't play well, also conceding another poor goal (Hart). Plenty of possession again last night, but failed to break Slovakia down and created how many clear cut chances? The bottom line is we have had 65%-70% possession so far against 3 average/poor sides - and only won 1 game. The "negativity" is, with respect, a familiar refrain of yours (I recall your posts from 2014 berating fans who accused Duchatelet of being an asset stripper....), but when you have 100,000 England fans out there paying top dollar to watch us struggle to beat banana republic footballing nations, people are not going to be happy...
