Not overly surprised that Nando handed in a transfer request considering his attitude since the start of the season. My problem is that because he's left it so late in the window there is a big possibility that he won't get a move done in time and that he'll be stuck here till the end of the season, is that someone you really want playing for your team knowing that they don't want to be here?? And do you know what the cherry on top is???? We play Chelsea next Sunday! Personally I'd take a player plus cash deal from Chelsea but not Sturridge because he's crap! I'd happily that Kalou though cos he'll not be needed if they sign Torres and he's young enough at 25. Best case scenario is a quick bidding war from Barca and Citeh!
a bidding war would suit me but it looks like that would only happen in the summer... 1: we keep him, tell if he wants to move then he has to warrant it by playing well until the end of the season 2: 50m plus a bag of chips!... Sturridge is worse than useless
paul_tomkins: From what I understand (don't shoot messenger if not true) Kenny was working hard to talk FT around last night. That's last I heard.
Not really. He'll just continue to play as **** as he has all season and sulk even more. Then you'll get less for him in the summer. lose-lose.
Here's what I'd do. Make some enquiries and see if we can get anyone in. If we can, then I say to Chelsea cough up the asking price by 5pm today, or it's not happening. I'd say to Torres, tell Chelsea if they want you they need to pay up, coz if they don't then this is what happens. Suarez takes your place, and if he isn't available then Ngog plays. You will be on the bench every game, but you won't get on the field. You will however, have to warm up in front of the fans. If they don't come up with the dosh, we tell Torres and Chelsea to **** themselves and we'll sell him in the summer when there'll be other clubs interested. We hold the cards here. If they come up with the dosh, we try and get people in but if we can't then we'll have to wait til the summer to get them. We're not going down, and we aren't gonna make top four, so it's not the end of the world if he goes. The big disappointment is the Europa League, as this hurts our chances of winning it.
no you dont hold the cards. if he doesnt go you're stuck with a player that hasnt looked interested all season and has in the past 24 hours publically stated he doesnt want to remain at liverpool. his performances are only going to get worse. then when you sell him in the summer you'll have to ask for less. torres holds all the cards, because as is usual, the players hold all the power
That's the thing though, isn't it? I don't want him to play for us anymore. Give Suarez the number 9 shirt and throw Judas in the Reserves. He can rot there till we sell him to Italy in the summer.
Even so, if he starts playing rubbish, will other clubs still want him, or will they move on to other targets?
If he sulks around for the rest of the season clubs are less likely to want him, says a lot about his professionalism really if he has had this in his mind all season, also explains the lacklustre performances. I'd still love him to come out and explain why he decided to hand in a transfer request 3 days before the end of the transfer window? Leaving us in the lurch a bit there Fernando!
I was sulking all through Roy's time and I fail to see why the players should be blamed for doing the same. It's not like Roy wasn't hitting his own personal highs because of a lack of effort. He was bang on target there, matching his previous record perfectly. Are we going to bench Reina, too? There were strong rumours he was going pre-Kenny and his performances weren't up to standard. How about Carra threatening to leave last season if he didn't get games? Johnson? Agger? Bench all the players miserable during Roy's time and we'd truly be a two-man team, just as the wums always said we were, but the two would be Poulsen and Konchesky.
