Not much better than Colback, busy but not very effective. Unless we picked him up as backup for a few mil than he's not for me.
I wouldn't be too excited by this, similar to what we have so squad player at best. The article the usual Bull at this time of year and if there is any truth in it could see him following Rogers to Celtic like he did Swansea to Liverpool.
I think he's better than he's being given credit for on here. He's certainly better than Colback. He's not a player I'd be particularly excited about signing but I'd see a midfield of Kirchhoff, M'Vila, and Allen as an improvement on Kirchhoff, M'Vila, and Cattermole.
I agree he is a half decent player, but 10 times the player like Colback. But personally I'd prefer to get the signing of M'Vila sorted out beforehand.
Like Catts Joe Allen just doesnt score enough goals. Weve been crying out for a 10 goal a season central Mid for years to take the burden off the strikers. I cant even remember the last one we had?
Its not just me, is it? Liverpool FC clearly think he's a better player than Colback too. Various football stats websites indicate that Allen's passing is more accurate and that he wins more challenges than Colback. Transfermarkt indicates that his current transfer value is higher than Colback's. Add in that he's an established international and the fact that he hasn't spent the majority of his career playing for struggling teams and you get the picture that the football world in general considers him to be a better player. But like I said, he's not a great player and he wouldn't be an exciting signing but he wouldn't be an awful one. In my opinion, he'd be a better option than both Cattermole and Rodwell.
I've yet to see him have a game where afterwards I've thought "Allen had a good game". He's a bit prettier on the ball and I'm not surprised he's a better passer than Colback but we don't need someone to play endless sideways and backwards passes. They're both **** as far as I'm concerned, by premier league standards.
He had a great game against Russia apparently, I didn't see it unfortunately as I was too busy falling asleep watching England.
He is our level, but not the next level. So if we are looking to move on he can not be our only midfield signing.
Yep he apparently did and has apparently been good for the tournament - but so have a number of others who I wouldn;t sign personally! Annoys me that people look at players in tournaments and say "Yeah I'd have him - he's great" based on seeing them 3 times! Don;t think he's any better than anything we've already got through
No benefit to us for me. Tidy enough player, doesn't create or score enough. Good signing for the right side cos he's decent, we aren't the right side.
