I Take your point , but surely ( ESP in the USA with all the bells and whistles that go off in their cars ) He would have had some form of warning ? Maybe he was on the phone , or in a rush , distracted in some way ? Or.......DUI ......
It's why you leave Automatics in Park. That effectively locks the transmission, although Autos still have a handbrake. Tbh, I'm very surprised that anyone would be killed by their own rolling car. So many circumstances work against the possibility. I suppose with so many car owners in the World, statistically, it must happen once in a while though.

My sister in law ran herself overwith her own car. Broke her back. So it dors happen! She's fine btw, although her fractured spine will never heal, apparently.
Crikey. Precisely how did she do it.? What were the circumstances.? I'm finding it quite hard to think how it could happen. There are so many circumstances to mitigate against it. Is it simply because she parked on a slope and didn't put the car in Park and put the handbrake on.?
Apparently this car was subject to a recall as the design meant drivers were not putting it into park correctly. In this case, the poor man got caught between the car and a wall and suffocated.
