I think he's picked a team based on public opinion and with little thought as to how he's going to use them. Vardy for instance is at his best when he's got space to run into but all of these teams were always going to play deep against us, restricting his usefulness. Also, Nads do you really think this is the best squad since 96? I think there's 1, perhaps 2, truly World Class players in this squad. And maybe 2 more with the potential to get that far. Then a lot of very overrated players. And our only genuine winger has no heart for the game. Edit: I meant to say, this squad is not a patch on the 2002 squad for example
Hodgsons fault for not playing forwards that complimented each other and found space. Sturridge was dropping too deep and Vardy did nothing, if you're gonna play them it has to be as part of a 3 not as a 2. We've bossed games but rarely looked like we were going to turn it in, something has to change up top.
I think it is. Less stars, less individuals probably but the balance in it is far better in my opinion. He took some players that shouldn't have gone. Jordan, Lallana. Would you think Walcott could have offered a bit more? 100% for me. Teams that win tournaments generally have 2 or 3 truly world class players and a whole bunch of very good ones that compliment each other. We have that, but we didn't take them, or aren't using them correctly.
Let's get this straight... Roy Hodgson has got 1 goal in 3 games out of 5 strikers who are all ****ing brilliant. He is insistent on playing ****ing awful players like Lallana and Henderson for no justifiable reason. Useless, stupid, Marv from Home Alone-looking, human arsehair, gormless, dribbling ****ing pigeon.
Euro 2000 Squad - top picks GK: Seaman Defence: G Neville, Southgate, Adams, Campbell, P Neville, Keown Midfield: Scholes, Beckham, Ince, Mcmanaman, Gerard, Barry Strikers: Owen, Shearer, Fowler, Phillips There's some real talent in there, we lost 2 of our 3 games...
You're certainly right about finding space and that is what Vardy needs to perform at his best. No way were Slovakia were giving us that in the centre. We had an experimental team tonight and they did OK without being perfect. Take Skrtel out of their team and it would have been a different tale.
2 goals from strikers surely (Sturridge and Vardy). The rest of your comment stands though - people will piss me off tomorrow talking about how 'unlucky' we were not to win. To fail to win one game when you are dominant may be unfortunate, to consistently be camped in an oppositions half and yet look bereft of thought as to how to score is a big ****ing problem.
If Skrtel is standing in the way of us then lets hope we don't play ANY OTHER NATION in the competition.
I think that's the key bit there. And you're right about the make-up of tournament winning teams but I don't think the whole bunch of very good ones are present. There are at least 4 or 5 players who've been left at home that would have served us better than Sterling, Henderson, or Vardy (despite his goal against Wales).
Wales beat both Russia and Slovakia. Two teams England couldn't beat. Says it all really, for me. I don't think anyone will be shouting for the likes of Chris Coleman to be the next England manager, but a manager like Chris Coleman managed to win his group above England. Oh, it was Chris Coleman? How **** is Hodgson and the England Executive in that case?
Individuals though. Quality at the back, but we've not had issues there. Scholes and Beckham were unreal for England, did any of the rest, including Gerrard, ever offer enough? Balance it? Shearer head and shoulders but again, is that 4 better? Is it a better selection of choices? Bear in mind we could have taken Defoe, Welbeck, Carroll. Lallana, Jordan and Wilshere. Latter 2 no games between them. That's where we ****ed up. Eric Dier has been magnificent, imagine him playing in Walcott instead of Lallana. There's a threat straight away and there's space for the strikers. I'd take Walcott every time, he can make things happen.
****ing idiot, he sounds like Van Gaal, waffling about waiting for us to click... You've had two years you ****ing flapping saggy nipple!!! Shoot him
Referring to the amount of blocks and intercepts he made, including a goal line clearance. Of course any player could do it, but he did it time and again tonight.
Damn right. Skrtel is ****ing awful but if you try and take him on in the air with 2 strikers 6-8 inches shorter he's gonna win that battle.
