    Think we were good tonight.

Unlucky that we are a big name, without any players that can change it.
Better things to come against teams that come out and play IMO

Read my post after that one; I say the same. We will be more likely to break those sides down though with what we have going forward. It'll just depend on the defence

We should have won tonight, Slovakia were there for the taking and we bottled it. I know we're not going to win the thing but we should be beating these teams and at least winning our group. What is about tournaments, we just can't hack it. Same old disappointment.

Our defence will have to get tested eventually. Can't really see us keeping a clean sheet against the teams you mentioned, so we'll have to start scoring. I'm confident we will.

Agreed. This is the first time since '96 that we can win if we get some luck.
This team actually want it. I saw great possession, recycling the ball. If we could cross or take set-pieces we'd be dangerous. (We can shoot - they were just blocked tonight!)

Roy is right. Someone is going to get a hiding from us soon. It could be Hungary or Iceland if Portugal beat Hungary.

I think you're letting disappointment cloud your analysis.
What more could we have done?
Remember when saints lost to reading in the championship? Same thing tonight

Words nail and head come to mind including your concern.

Funny how we came into this tournament thinking that tge defence will be an issue n that we'll score goals easily enough.

Not quite turned out that way so far. Though, like you, I can see it changing against better/more attacking teams.

Glad to see all the positivity. I'm quite excited about this group of players, and for the future too. Unusual feeling as an England fan :)

We just aren't clinical, it's the worst I've ever seen an England side in front of goal. Couldn't hit a barn door.

Also want to point out Eric Dier: what a player.

In Germany and Spain they respect players that can take people out of the game and control a midfield (hence why Busquets should be a b'allon'dor winner IMO).
We have lacked that for so long, but seriously Dier can be the main guy for us.

Crikey, Bilic watched the same football match as I did.

Any chance of him being the next England manager.? ;)

Subject to Portugal getting their backsides into gear and winning the group, I can see a possible QF line up of:

    Spain v Poland/Switzerland
    Wales v Belgium/Portugal
    Germany v Italy
    France v England

Bale knocking Spain out in the SFs. Surely not...

Agree 100% was thinking tonight what a player he is and the fact he's one of our most important players despite only handful of caps says it all.

That is just down to a bobble or a big Arse somewhere. I'd rather that performance than the World Cup ones thanks.

I appear to have woken up in parallel universe watching post match ITV.
It appears Kyle Walker is a football genius
