If she'd defected the other way she would be an honest politician merely following her conscience, of course.

The border controls at Calais aren't an EU issue as such. They're there because of a bilateral agreement, that was written to benefit both countries. Opening up the ports effectively opens up the other French borders to an influx.

The U.K. Are allowed border control checks at Calais & Dunkirk. This is under The Touquet agreement. It is that the French are threatening to cancel...

This isn't true though, there are more borrowers than savers.

The key thing is that UK households overall are net borrowers. Total household savings are £987 billion with banks and building societies (plus £90bn in National Savings). Borrowings include £1,225 billion of mortgage debt and £233bn of other consumer debts.

I appreciate that low interest rates hit savers, but imo saving is a luxury. Paying your mortgage, not so much.

The UK had dug a huge debt hole for itself.

Why did she claim she was an Outer? Was she a spy for the Inners just waiting for Farage to confirm that he's a Nazi so she could denounce him?

I know. It changes nothing I posted. They agreed it because there are benefits to them. Those benefits still exist.

It's clutching at straws and more attempts at scare mongering.

It's not just the UK. Capitalism is based on debt, so that somebody always owes the lender more than they borrowed. That's how financial institutions make their money. This is basic stuff really. Higher interest rates will affect everybody with mortgages and other loans and will mean less disposable income, which means less money flowing into the economy.

I don't see your point! How does the French opening up their port to allow immigrants to go to a non EU country affect their other borders, which are all with other EU countries?....
