Yes it is what's happening. I accept that other, innocent supporters are being dragged into it, but they were not the people I made my original comment about, so don't be putting words into my mouth.

    End of.

Vladimir Putin - "I don't understand how 200 Russian guys were able to beat up several thousand English football fans at Euro 2016".

Putin's probably just sulking, as the IAAF have just announced they're not lifting the ban on Russian athletes at Rio.

I've been (only to Moscow) and enjoyed it. Would recommend it if only so you can judge for yourself. As long as you don't ponce around in flipflops or toms you should be OK.

It won't be that different from 2008 at grass roots level. More security, better security....Putin will not want to lose face by having widespread disorder on the streets and lurid headlines.

If these nutters can do all that damage in France then god only knows what they would get up-to in the own country.
Good luck to anyone who is prepared to take that chance.

Whitehall sources now say that many of the Russians involved in the incidents were members of their uniformed security forces.
I know it's the only Guardian, but there may be some truth in it.

I thought you said in your previous post that it would be safe.
IMO this makes it more risky.

There was a good article in the Telegraph by the Man U supporting turd Paul Hayward where he said Marseilles was classic Russian strategy of 'Attack and retreat'. We've seen it in the air over the North Sea when the RAF have had to scramble to meet Russian fighter planes, in the Swedish archipelago where Russian subs have entered their territory to see what the Swedes will do and now this.
Putin will be pleased that Russian toughs have thrown their weight around but not if it hurts Russia's interests. It's not in Russia's interests to have foreigners battered to **** on their streets, journalists penning disgusted articles about danger and violence during Moscow 2018 so they will not be allowed to run around like they were in Marseille. Of course, if you go looking for a barney in Russia, its easy enough to find it....just try raising any flag whatsoever in Red Square.
