Sunderland linked with dzeko Swansea linked with zaza Our relegation rivals probable linked with some quality strikers while we're linked with lee Tomlin , very tough season ahead if we're not ambitious in the market and I don't mean just signing stars I mean being shrewd, really need to get it right this time
I think we will step it up a notch once all the uncertainty is cleared up. We have to put it into context; these other clubs aren't trying to be sold or sort out their managerial situations. What other clubs are doing shouldn't be a concern of ours because once everything is sorted it will be business as usual. Nobody is going to want to sign for a club that might be sold or sign and then find out it's a manager they don't like. Let's wait until everything is sorted before we worry or panic or whatever it is you guys do during transfer windows. There will probably be some news this week but even if there isn't, the season doesn't officially start until July 1st and even then it's still two weeks before our first pre season game, which is against Grimsby. After that there's another month before the season starts, it's not like we're running out of time. I'm sure BCC will check me on this, but I'd really like to see us splash out for Berardi at Sassuolo. Pretty sure he's no longer Juve's player after they bought out his co-ownership deal. Only 21 and a proper talent. Nobody linked to him from Britain and would be a good foil for Hernandez. Like, baco-foil good.
the post wasn't posted in panic or worry I'm observing who our relegation rivals are linked to and yes it will very much affect us next season who they sign and who we sign Hopefully we'l be ambitious
Yeah he's a very good player and if we could get him it would be fantastic but I think bigger / better clubs will be after him. Sassualo have been a breeding ground for a lot of good young players. Earlier (was it on this thread?) I said Eder would be a good bet, Inter want rid for around £8m and at 29 most clubs would be wary of a lack sell-on but after his goal against Sweden other clubs might jump ahead of us now.
Yeah Sansone is pretty decent as well, got a cap for the national team too. Lorenzo Pellegrini is also worth a look from them, going to be a very good player.
Frig knows what Suasalito is that auto correct changed my post to. Di Francesco has done a great job and if I was an owner after a progressive young manager he'd be near the top of the list. Can't believe they sacked him but were wise enough to realise they ballsed up and brought him back.
I'd still rather buy English than the unknown quantities you are both quoting. They haven't played in England, we are crap with signing players from abroad. We can ill afford a season for them to get used to English football, culture, climate, Hull etc. Any player as long as they are accustomed to England and English football.
I'd have a look at Pelle at Southampton who seems surplus. The ownership/management fiasco needs addressing urgently then we can start recruiting.
Thing is, we need to shake this myth that all foreign players are bad. They aren't, we just don't play them properly. In the case of people like Proschwitz and Ben Arfa, fair enough they turned out to be duds, but it's no coincidence that these players are quality for others and then turn out crap for us. We take foreign players and force them to fit our system and it should be the other way around. If they are that good, we should build a system that suits them. The key is balance, not too many foreigners and not too many old English players.
I thought he looked good for us. Sunderland had Defoe up front - most of their strikers were bit part players aside from JD...
How much will they cost though? I'd buy English first as well but how much for Bamford, Keane, Wilson, Kodjia, Gayle? All players we should be looking at as they are young and likely to progress. £25m for Deeney! ****ing crazy prices to buy proven strikers. A few more Italian speakers might help Hernandez smash em in and keep us up.
Its not just us. Remember Wolfswinkel at Norwich, probably a lot more too. Its difficult for any foreigner to come to England, easier if they come to a Man U or Chelsea as they get more ball-more chances etc. But they've had their duds too. Crespo, Schevchenko. The pace and aggression is different for them and as a forward in a lower Pl team they find it difficult, thats why Abel struggled. The jury is out on whether he will handle it next season too. Thats why me and GLP would like to see either a foreigner with experience of England, like Kodjia or an experienced English player.
Isn't the point that anyone 'proven' at this level in England is either a) out of our price range or b) in demand by a bigger / better club? Therefore we are forced to take a risk on unknown quantities.
