Must watch this programme. Really unbelievable that they may be critically endangered! One of my favourite animals .... http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03...me=vidclip_naturalworldgiraffes_contentcard11
My son and daughter in law have gone off to hospital this morning to have their first child - good timing I reckon, as its father's day It's one of those occasions that put all the other stuff going on in the world into perspective, and makes you appreciate the importance of family. I'll have to wet the baby's head with some of the Jim Beam Devil's Cut that I got from my boy for fathers day when they actually have their own baby...circle of life and all that. This will be grandchild number 3 and I'm not even 50 till the end of the year! The bourbon is superb by the way, 45% Abv, dark and smooth so looking forward to a few glasses later today (hopefully). I might post some drunken nonsense later so apologies in early.
Well the GP2 race from Azerbaijan was completely bonkers this morning, which bodes well for the Grand Prix later...
And a million safety cars. The guy who started 18th came second in the GP2 (after leading). Guy who started 8th won it.
Thanks Dave. Not watched it but will watch it with my daughter as she is giraffe crazy. Does the program suggest they are under treat then? When I went to Kenya with the Saints Foundation in 2011, I saw them in the wild. Amazing creatures.
Jeez jet lag hit me today. Did the paper round with the kids and fell asleep on sofa for three hours! Oops
I'm reading a novel, in which reference was made to "Holodomor". I've never heard of this, before, so a quick Google later, reveals it to be a "man made famine" in the Ukraine, during which 7,000,000 Ukrainians died from starvation, as a direct result of Stalin forcing farmers to join his "collective". Additional deaths, in other regions, raise the death toll to 10m !!! This link will give the background. http://www.holodomorct.org/history.html A documentary, called The Harvest of Despair, (made in the 90s so not great quality footage) also gives details. Don't switch off, when the credits roll, as there is a voice over, plus some eyewitness reports, from survivors, that talk of cannibalism. Link to YouTube for documentary.
