Not in the sense of getting all hot and bothered by things, no.

The only meltdown we've properly had during the Liebherr era is the extended exodus of Chairman, then eventually Manager and key players. Apart from that, when Adkins was sacked we had a meltdown which lasted nearly 24 hours, and by the time the media reacted, the majority of us had got over it. Koeman's departure has largely produced anger towards him and that doesn't really constitute a meltdown. The uninformed may get a bit peeved about Victor leaving, but I think most are pretty sanguine about it.

My feeling is that it's the media which do most of any meltdowns, if they're going to happen.

He means (I believe) that can he put a timescale to the meltdown/exodus as it could have been anywhere in the last few seasons.

    As a joke.

I'd say this is a fairly new development, I know that earlier in the season negotiations took place and it was said that a contract extension would be given if SD played in 50% of our premember games next season.
He was always keen to stay as he and his family are very settled and they have just bought and extensively renovated their first house.

We had such a settled period on gaining two promotions and establishing ourselves, but Cortese's leaving certainly was a bit of a catalyst.
The club has responded very well at every turn, so it feels more controlled & calm now.

Cheers, well he has proven himself with several managers now, so I doubt he has concerns over the next appointment(in terms of being selected). Good to see a player who is happy enough to sign for longer. Pleased his ankle has held up for the tournament :emoticon-0105-wink:

Executive Director of Football Les Reed said:

“I am delighted that Steven, another influential leader in the dressing room and on the pitch, has committed his future to Southampton Football Club.

“He is leading Northern Ireland’s campaign at EURO 2016 and representing his country and our club as a true ambassador.

“Southampton fans know only too well how much energy and effort he puts into games and our players know that when needed he will be there to help them.

“Having coached Steven myself both at club and international level, I know only too well how important he is to whichever team he is playing for.

“I am sure players and fans will be delighted with this news, as he joins Virgil, Prowsey and Fraser in extending his commitment to the club.”

Would love it to be Long, simply because Koeman finally realised how big a part Long had played in igniting the second half of our season. After ignoring him and playing him out of position for the first half of the season.
I think he is a player Koeman would like, but didn't Long's wife want to move down South from Hull?

Fantastic news, as others have said every team needs a player like him. He's also a great pro n seems really happy here. Cements him as vice skipper for me.

Thinking back that was such astute signing at that time after being promoted. Absolute bargain too.

Sadio & Dusan next please :)

If Sadio & Dusan sign new deals then Les can put George Burley in charge & I wouldn't moan.
