Just put a comment on the Ben Arfa article and it got me thinking, what is the best goal that Newcastle have scored this season, in all competitions?

For sheer quality, Ryan Taylor's at Accrington beats Ben Arfa's, Barton's against Stevenage and Villa, and Carroll v Liverpool. All were class goals, but Ryan Taylor's was so far out, and he couldn't get it much more in the top corner.

For a team goal it has to be Carroll's 3rd v Villa. A few team passes, gets it to Carroll who plays a sensational long ball to Xisco, who plays a great through ball through to Carroll to pass it past Freidal. A close second was Ranger's at Chelsea in the cup, great passing, great cross from Ferguson and a cool finish to make it 1-1. The 3rd is Carroll's at West Ham, great ball by Barton firstly to Ameobi, who lays it back to Barton to supply a great cross to Carroll, bang, 2-1.

Set Piece goal is hard. There's a view, Nolan's 3rd v Sunderland, Carroll's at Arsenal, Carroll's at home to Blackburn, Carroll's at Wolves. Hard to choose.

Raylor's goal gets it for me as best goal so far though.

    What about you?

I agree about Raylors being the best. On previous threads on this subject, his goal always seems to be forgotten.

My favourite goal of the season is the one you mention in your signature. Ameobi's acrobatic volley Vs the Mackems. :):):)

Also honourable mention for the last goal we scored, Coloccini's against Spurs. I think if Colo's twenty yard header against Wigan had gone in that would have been my favourite.

Ben Arfa's goal against Everton was against better opposition and a really difficult place to get a result, he had to create the space for himself to get the shot off, pure strike with very little back-lift.

Ryan Taylor's goal was a great strike but he had all the time in the world to strike it nobody closed him down and it was against poor opposition,

    Ben Arfa for me.

Although Barton's screamerS, Ryan Taylor's wonder shot and Ameobi's volley have to be closely followed.

Carroll's goal against West Ham down there, cross and header at the end of a 20-odd pass move.

I want to say Taylor's in the cup, it was so sexy but there are others too... Barton via Villa was our first goal of the season so that is extra special, Ben Arfa's first start of the season but mine has to be Shola's via the mackems. The build up play, the set up from the whole team and the goal itself was just brilliant so I think that's my pick.
