If England win our group, which 3rd placed team will they play, will it be a case of say france win all their group matches they will the best in qualifying, so play the worst 3rd place team and not from their group or is there a draw ?. Seems strange it is not 8 groups of teams with the top 2 getting through with the top teams playing the 2nd placed teams that would have been easier.
Eerr yeah. Actually i have no idea how it works. 3 qualifying from a group of 4 is wrong. Its ****ed up.
Based on a sketchy memory of something i read about a month ago... The groups are split into two sets of three. I think the sets are ADE and BCF. If i recall correctly the three teams in third place the two with the best goal difference go through as opposed to the ones with the most points. Which is weird as you could draw one and lose two but have a g.d. of (-2) and yet another team could win 2 and lose one and if they got stuffed in their loss not go through. I could be wrong in my understanding of it though. Not sure why but i think the winner of our group is due to play against a third placed team.
