He came highly recommended by the Brighton fans, was their club captain and had been a stalwart for them for 10 years, just the sort of signing you are usually clamouring for! I wish I had your wisdom in hindsight too!
Why "crazy"? Going on your comments on the below thread you said top signing http://www.not606.com/threads/adam-el-abd.245860/page-2
Yes we do, but we don't all state afterwards it was a crazy signing like we knew it would be. I thought he would be a good signing, so I'm not going to look a twat and make out like I knew we was making a mistake
There is a difference though between looking back and thinking 'hmm - that didn't work out like I thought it would and hoped' and saying 'what a waste of money - typical of our terrible owners/scouts'.
Something was wrong, obviously we are not privy to behind the scenes stuff. However a three year deal,on a good salary, paid up to move him on,something was wrong behind the scenes. He came highly recommended, however it did not happen. i stand by my statement,it has cost a lot of wasted money signing him,and paying him up.
Are you really missing the point of what people are saying about you? You criticise the club for not spending enough money on 'proven' players, but in a case where they do and you initially rave about it, you then turn around and criticise them again for wasting money when it didn't work out, while glossing over your own initial impression. Why can't you just admit that you thought it was a good signing at the time (like many of us did) and so the club shouldn't be blamed now?
With regard to ElAbd - at the time it looked a decent signing. The lad never really settled - that happens sometimes - look at Louis (Coventry) and Scotty (Reading)
Most of us thought it was a good signing,at the time,Seagulls fans said we had a good player, but it never happened. Something was wrong behind the scenes, whether that be el abd or the club. As said it has cost a lot of money, and the club had very little return on it.
