    My gran used to have an ash tray next to everything in the house.

    Sofa - ashtray

    Armchair - ashtray

    Bath - ashtray

    Toilet - ashtray

    Oven - ashtray

    Bedrooms - ashtrays

    Outside in the garden - no ashtrays

    She used to give me £1.50 for a pack of ***s... "Ere go get yerself 20 Superkings from the shop"

    I was only about 10.

    Yeah mine was physically fit as a fiddle despite her smoking, she stopped in 2000, but the she got Alzheimer's and that done her in, bless her, funny lady, always loved listening to her stories about my mum as a young'un.

    It was one of the few times ive ever thought wtf. The other week when bobby and co where on about respecting the war.

    Not on about me (everyone knows that ****e). But even down to me gannie. A young nurse in the war while me grands was of with Monty. (Cue a 73quip).

    Always said Netty....toilet.

    Anyone ever used the term "bullets" for sweets? My dad always did. Perhaps it's South Shields lingo.

    "Give the bairn a tanner for some bullets".......
