So do I, but I would walk away from it if football became associated with the thugs again. It's why I stopped regularly attending matches back in the 1980's and I never really committed as much when I returned. Which explains why I have little sympathy for fans who drink to excess, collect in massive crowds in the streets, and cause problems to ordinary people. It's similar behaviour to what went on before.
We were excellent against Holland in game 2, so doesn't quite ring true. Here's a highlights reel of how well we played. I guarantee you'll enjoy the bit at 4:35 when Gazza makes one particular Lying Dutch bastard look a prick
Here is why I think it was fair. In trying to break down a lesser team, we couldn't find 5 passes in a row. We continually misplaced passes and miscontrolled the ball. That was nothing to do with he opposition, it was poor play. Very poor. I even started voting at one point to make the point.
Shame this has got back to talking about violence, come on guy's we just had a last minute winner! Let's enjoy that and talk about the football and how England are going to let us down on penalties in the quarter finals again!
I disagree. I didn't see that at all. We played neatly enough. I have despaired of England plenty of time, but I was glued to this match and misplacing passes too often was not my complaint. My only real complaint was Sterling is useless.
It's not just your problem. I can understand it. It helps if you don't hate opposition players throughout the season. I just don't really emotionally register any player who doesn't play for Saints, or who never have.
Walker got in position sooooo many times but only managed one good cross. I thought that wasn't good enough.
If you watch the first half again, count the passes. From about 20 minutes in, it was poor. We'll just have to disagree.
First half England were poor, second half they were good. I think you're right about the first half - we moved the ball far too slowly and it was so easy for Wales to defend against. Second half England played well against a team intent on defending for the entire half.
I was certainly frustrated at times. I probably didn't actually 'enjoy' any of the game if you know what I mean P.s. tonight? Kicked of 2pm here
Yeah I know, bed tine for you soon whilst I still have a few more drinks to sink I get what you are saying that we were poor at times but we still dominated and fully deserved the win. We showed a bit of character too which we never saw from the 'golden generation'. I still think we'll get no further than the quarters, but for the first time in my life probably(!) I'm optimistic about the future.
I think the only disagreement is how high you set the bar for England You set it too high. We didn't. We're happy, you aren't, therefore our approach is correct Also many times Walker looked up to cross the ball the only man in the centre was Sterling. That doesn't seem like a good plan to me.
