    ****ing get in there

England were so much better than Wales it was embarrassing at times.

We played so well at times and totally outclassed Wales.
    Now let's both qualify.

My initial thoughts were that these were 'if we lose, at least I can say in the press conference that I went for it' substitutions. They paid off excellently.

Top of the group, and set up for Slovakia now. Interesting selection dilemma though. What is the starting XI for Monday?

Alli's quick feet led to the winner.
    He has a huge future.

I think Wales would have put England in more trouble had they at least tried to attack them.
They parked the bus and hoofed the ball as far away from their goal as possible.

Sorry Beth, but a little gloating is required after all the Billy big bollocks stuff from the Welsh all week.

Great news if we played well again. Saw the news of Bale goal and the three Brits and myself in this meeting (with a variety of Americans, Canadians and Europeans) had our heads in our hands. Then rushed the meeting we were in to get the last five minutes up on the big screen. I was genuinely touched that the French, Belgians, Spanish and Italians in the room seem really pleased for us, until I reminded the French that it probably means at least another week of tear gas for them. Is that us through to the next round, or do we need a point against Slovakia?

On the tube at 1 nil down. Got to signal with barrage of messages. Weird sitting in Kings Cross doing cartwheels inside while the rest of the world not bothered!
As for Bale and Ramsey. Who ate all the (humble) pie?!!

Absolutely. Sorry Beth but the sledging from the Welsh camp was very cocky and undignified. Happy for Wales to qualify though as wife half Welsh!

A point means we finish at least second (in the event of a Wales win over Russia) or top, if Wales don't beat Russia.

A loss could see us third. We won't finish last, because even if Russia and Slovakia win, we would be ahead of Wales based on head-to-head. And four points in third place should be enough to go through...

All immaterial though, as surely the lessons have been earned, and Vardy will start against Slovakia. Surely?

Sturridge's feet were even quicker, so much more threat with him and Vardy. Perhaps now we are 99% certain to qualify we can play with a bit more freedom and give the Slovaks a proper pasting...

nothing conclusive after that result, any of the four sides could go through. Although Wales will be gutted, they have an easier game than us to come. Let's hope we both go through<cheers>

Amazed! An England win. But well deserved. They played better against Russia and only got the point.

Read my posts...there was no sledging from me here.

I admit our team were a bit mouthy..but

I will stick with their quote about passion...Sterling, Kane Lalana no passion...whole of the Welsh team fought until the end...not all the English even started the game.
I would strongly disagree with the quote that no Englishman would get in the team...I would take the backs, Dier, Vardy Alli and Sturridge...you can keep the CBs, the Goalie Sterling and Kane

    Fair???

    We did play well mate.

Not easy against a team with zero ambition, completely parking the bus.
I've been a big critic of Sturridge but he definitely has that star quality about him. It was a great finish and no more than our total dominance deserved.

A big well done must go to Roy too. He gets criticised for not being adventurous, but his three subs were Vardy, Sturridge and Rashford. He must let the players go out and really go for it. We will always concede, but we have incredible choices going forward.

    Nope, way off Beth.

Firstly, the Welsh were ridiculous gobby leading up to the game. No-one was suggesting that you were.
The passion thing is rubbish. See the goal celebration at the end and tell me there was no passion. Lallana is very passionate and incredibly competitive and has played well in both games. England played with passion and determination against a giant Welsh parked bus and got their just rewards.
You don't mention Rooney, who ran the midfield.

The only Welsh player who would get in England's starting 11 is Bale.
