Apparently we've been given permission to talk to reading goalkeeper Ben Hamer...anyone know much about him? Has yesterday's game forced Powell's hand...?
Looks like you beat me- so urge all to use this thread!! Know nothing about him- so nothing to make me sit up and take notice, just hope our scouting system seen many positives from him. If it happens, it will mean we have 5 full time goalkeepers on the books! Unless one leaves....
Wondering if this means Elliot is off? And does Powell not rate Sully that much either; to sign him and then go for a goalkeeper who will clearly be first choice if signs. I'm thinking Robbie is off...
Has had a few loans at Brentford and Exeter. Can't get into Reading's first team. I am only assuming he'd be first choice. Would he sign if he was going to sit on our bench...? Must be honest, I hoped this news was about a new forward...
I too was hoping/thinking it would be a striker. Re central defence, I just think both morro and Taylor need time. Shaky moments between them but it's things that can be ironed out. You can see they're good players but the partnership is lacking.
To be Honest, if CP was looking for a goalie - then surely Fraser Forster on loan would be a no-brainer !
Think Fraser Forster beyond us, Stu. Reputation grown rapidly in 2 years. As for Hamer, wonder if Taylor recommended him? Let the conspiracies begin... 6ft'4 though!!
Know nothing about the lad, but with 2 apparently decent youth keepers I'm surprised that we're in the market for a 3rd first-teamer... unless as stated Elliott is off. Not that I think a 3rd keeper is a bad idea, but would take something to keep 2 keepers happy not playing in League One.
Surely this must mean Elliott is on his bike. At least i hope it does. Not because i want Elliott to go, i don't!! Elliott going can be the ONLY reason to bring in another keeper. Sullivan, Elliott, Gough, Pope... If they're all staying. Please for the love of god no more goalkeepers. After all, we can only play one at a time!!
As I said on another thread, I doubt CP could have agreed terms with Reading and advanced in negotiations far another for it to be announced on our official website withing less than 24 hours of a 'bad performance' from Elliot so I doubt that's why. Also, if Elliot was off then surely he wouldn't have played yesterday in a squad which is meant to be the one used against Bournemouth next week. Perhaps both Gough and Pope are going out on loan? Even then, three senior keepers is too many. Truly baffling but I seem to be in the minority of those he want Elliot to stay and be number 1.
Elliot has said on twitter "Many thanks again people!!I can only say I want to stay and we will just See what happens, just have to train hard to be no1!!" Hopefully he'll stay, but i do think Sullivan should be number 1 at the start of the start alot more commanding in the box Gough is reportedly going to AFC Wimbledon not sure whether its a perm or loan transfer though
Rumours are thats we've also made a enquiry about former leeds full back Aaron Hughes he was pulled out of Scunthorpes friendly with Barnsley yesterday
That's a good sign, Forever - I don't want him to go, but at the moment, I think Sullivan would be a more secure starter.
I'm also in that minority, last season couldn't have helped having such a woeful team in front of him. On his day for me Elliot is top-half Championship class
Andy Hughes, Scunny right back. Ex Leeds player who can play across the back 4 but seems predominantly a right back. SLP Sports journalist has been told to 'expect a busy week' at Charlton
