    http://www.themag.co.uk/2016/06/newcastle-united-top-10-list-successful-english-clubs-ever/

Talksport compiled a list of the most successful clubs in england, No real surprises, Newcastle are in the top ten, however our mutant neighbours don't appear on the list?

One of the stats that stuck out to me is when Newcastle won the Fairs Cup in 1969 it was our 11th trophy and at that current time Liverpool had only won 8, since then Liverpool have amassed 33 cups in the 47 years since, whilst we have won nothing!

Give it 20 years and I reckon we will go from 9th to 7th or 6th! overtaking Villa and everton with Rafa cementing himself as a Newcastle Legend!

I love it, all of a sudden Newcastle supporters have ditched their sacred Premiere league in favour of the FA Cup, I know that every now and again clubs put out a full team in the FA cup but not very often, such an important trophy , to play in the Not Fairs cup I think you finished in the Premier league seventh and won it after a convoluted mix up WOW that is success , I notice Sunderland's success in the charity shield is not mentioned also there Football World cup championship, in the one that counts IE the one that EVERYONE every week goes to watch Sunderland have won it six times that is 33% more than Newcastle , and next season that may be seven, and measuring a consistently good team they have managed to come second five times
There are Lies Damn Lies and statistics
You will never ever convince me you are not envious of Sunderland's success in the No 1 league in England

I have been for years telling you of your inferiority , this year even after you graciously proved me to be correct, you still cannot come to accept it

You cannot win the premier league without playing against Premier league teams, success cannot be measured by luck as is the case in the FA Cup, I suppose you could claim you have been luckier than Sunderland in winning trophies and I would have to accept that

Hate to mention it but you need to get out of the lower divisions before you can even think of winning anything

We were actually 10th the year we qualified for that European competition.

    :)
Surely not? (Stop calling me Shirley!!) I seem to remember some small club on Wearside winning a trophy way back in the 1970's when not in the top division.

I thank you for at least having the decency not to try to argue with the facts that the most prestigious trophies are with Sunderland

Given a choice in the next few years which trophy would you rather win League title or FA cup , alright we know you aren't going to win either but it is a hypothetical question

    Honest answer.

    FA Cup.

Always wanted to win the Cup and see Newcastle win at Wembley. I haven't got a good record on that last point. :bandit:

Edit: Not too good on the first one either!!!

Me too. I am still naive enough to think that the FA Cup still matters.

At least it is becoming clearer to me the priorities of the two sets of supporters one hopes for luck the other admires skill , should have invested in more lucky charms not a new manager

You do not have much choice, you are certainly not going to win the Premier league title next year

Though it grieves me to admit it, when Newcastle won those FA cups in the fifties almost 100% of football followers would have chosen it over a league title, makes you wonder are we being told what to want
