Given that Eric Boullier blamed Nick for the car exploding today, it seems certain that those two are clearly not getting along too well, and both are playing the blame game. Boullier has already issued a much publicised hurry up to Heidfeld this season, so i'm wondering if the end is nigh for him. With Bruno Senna doing a half decent job in friday practice, and Romain Grosjean's return to form in GP2, could we see either of these 2 in the car at the next round, in Belgium, in 1 months time?
Hope not, he's been stupidly unlucky all year. But hasnt been as fast as Petrov. Senna and Grosjean have had their chances and failed...
I would hope so, but I think the team will give him another go as his car blew up at this race. If he fouls up then show him the door
I have no issue with Heidfeld, it's just that Boullier blamed him for revving the car too harshly when leaving the pit box, which is a load of crap in my opinion. MB said that he would have heard it if the car had been stuck at the rev limiter for too long a period.
Boullier is just looking for a scapegoat. Nick is Mr Consistent and today's problem was not of his making. To suggest otherwise is just rather poor show on the part of Boullier.
I sure hope not. Grosjean and Senna have both had their chances and have failed miserably. I think Grosjean is the worst driver to have driven in that Renault team in recent years. When he had that stint two years ago for a decent driver you'd expect to see some qualities on show but he displayed absolutely nothing but ineptness. As for Senna - well Karun Chandhok gave it a better effort in the Hispania last year I thought. As for Boullier blaming Heidfeld, well that's just not on. Heidfeld's an experienced driver and would know what to do with an f1 car as he's done thousands of pit stops in his career. Boullier's words sounded like shifting the blame away from a much more serious issue to do with the car. Probably scared that the FIA will look into it and ban whatever is causing these dangerous fires.
McFerrari, I dont think Grosjean and Senna have had a fair crack at the whip where as Hiedfeld has been whiped several times...
There is a serious flaw with that car. One fire's an accident, two's a safety issue. As for Grosjean and Senna, i think that Grosjean has done enough to warrant a second chance. If he scres this one up, that should be that. I still don't know what to make of senna. He seems out of control most of the time, and never seems to take the same line into a corner in consecutive laps. He'd be useful for clearing the marbles away, that's for sure.
I hope they put in Senna. Heidfeld was doing rubbish anyway before the fire. Stuck behind Kovalainen.
I can see why people would want to give him a second chance but I believe the field in this year's GP2 is very average to do. No one would give Pantano another chance when he was winning in GP2 so I wouldn't give Grosjean a chance.
I think the question is what sort of Renault will Hiedfeld be driving in Spa. Surely some pretty major mods need to be made to the car to stop it catching fire again. The FIA would be pretty annoyed if it did happen again.
To comply with health and safety, i imagine the renault monsieur Heidfeld will be driving is a Megane.
Until the last two races, Heidfeld seemed to be coping slightly better than Petrov with the ailing Renault. But whether Boullier is right or wrong, it seems clear that he is disappointed with Nick and he's the boss, ultimately. I'm not sure I see Nick being replaced before Belgium: Spa's not a race for a novice, really. But I wouldn't be surprised to see someone else get a chance before the end of the season if he doesn't deliver soon.
