Back when I had my old Albacore dinghy and pushed off from under Itchen Bridge, we used to kit ourselves out with a huge picnic for the day. Regularly throughout the summer we'd make it across to the Island at the beach at Norris Point or we'd go round the corner of the mainland to get in at the beach in front of the Osborne View pub. After a couple of years we stored the Albacore down at Calshot, which meant that we could get much further. So creeks at Wootton and Newtown were tried and other beaches where we could slip onto. Eventually we did the harbours of Yarmouth and Bembridge, and the very last thing we did was to get around the Island, though that took up a Saturday and part of Sunday as we stopped at Bembridge again to get some shade and camp. The downwind sailing by the southern coast of the Island really tired us out. Still sea air and Sun really whacks you out. Incredibly we committed the absolute no-no of running out of beer and vino, cause we used to take loads.! Invariably there was an emergency bottle of whisky [Monkey Shoulder] up under the bow though, so life wasn't getting too desperate. Always had more fun in sea worthy sailing dinghies than sailboats. You can go where the boats can't. Don't know why I changed over. Opportunity might be coming up to go and do some proper sailing again.
Chest deep for me and sadly about waist deep for the wife! Damn gravity, it giveth and it taketh away.
Must come a time, seventy.! When you're old and it's cold and nobody cares whether you live or you die... Sorry, that just popped into my head.
If you think Islam is the route of all evil. Christianity is perfectly capable of being evil too: http://www.express.co.uk/news/world...lando-shooting-ISIS-Islamic-State-Omar-Mateen Where do you go when a preacher is teaching this stuff to a congregation.? And I presume they lap it up. Got a feeling the Druids might have had the right idea.
A 2 year old child has been dragged into a river near Orlando Resort by an alligator. Horrible. His dad tried and failed to rescue him. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-36535791
The link here is radical religion. However, radical Islam is closer to radical Christianity of centuries ago. America has always had more than their fair share of complete nutjobs...in some areas, they have cornered the market. Radical Islamic Americans...now that's scary.
So, all that promised heavy rain for Southampton this week. Where is it.? Put the bike properly away just before the weekend because I didn't think I would be able to ride it. Turns out I could have ridden it almost every day.
Yeah, I can understand that. Winchester is on the edge of the Test Valley micro-climate. The place gets predicted weather. Southampton bucks the trend so often its ridiculous.
