Watched first episode of billions... not very impressed. Trying to hard to be intellectual but then dressed up in a dominatrix's heels. Its another US assumption that EVERYONE rich is corrupt type show. finally saw flight... first part decent. good representation of an air plane.... the last 1.5 hours were not great. Washingotn has played the same role too mnay times. that meg ryan movie with the tnaks.. what was that one? drunk safe house... blah blah.. I found it a bit dull by the end.
Bit late the the GOT Party but: 1. That arya ending was a bit pants wasnt it. How she runs away from the Waif so easily to her hiding spot. Also why was Jaqen smiling at the end and just letting her go? Very disappointed in this saga 2. The hound was great, made me laugh especially when he's talking down the bloke with the bow and arrow. 3. That blackfish saga was also pretty pants and why did Breinne and Pod need to sneak off sail away makes no sense. 4. I did enjoy franken mountain destroying that religious nut.
1. yes, a 1 minute battle scene was desired here. Jaqen smiling make perfect sense to me. this guy has been in the kids corner since season one. he helped her then and he's helped her since. the waif was obviously another test. my biggest WTF about it was why was the pointless actress giving her speech AGAIN at the start. that time should have gone to the battle 2. hound... yeah it was ok. bit of fun i suppose. Dunno where he's going. 3. the blackfish was ****. i do not know how on earth his men just turn on him when the last episode with a knife to the guys throat they don't... like it simply didn't add up. I liked the "diplomatic solution" part. really didn't mind that but how it came about was just not adding up for me. 4. yes but i wanted him to just leave the spineless cousin alive only not all but one guy, I think they were more wanting the sneer on cercei's face as the message not the violence 90% of the audience wanted
On point 3. Brienne honour code? So she tells Jamie if diplomacy doesn't work she's honour bound to stand with the black fish...he refuses..then she leaves him to die...is that because he told her too or because the weak chimney one was Lord again...if first ok...sort of...if second...should she not just have surrendered and walked out the front door...?
Caught up with GOT good episode and I thought the Arya story was OK unlike the majority. I though the whole thing was just another lesson on her road to being a warrior.
Started Preacher, if the pilot is anything to go by this is the next big thing. Read one of two of the comics a while back but didn't get into it but this looks a great show Joe Gilgun is in it as an Irish Vampire and is brilliant as usual.
Good questions. It felt rushed and clumsy. You are right one minute she's a knight honour bound and the next she leave him to stand alone... that doesn't add up either now you say it.
This is how I see the Arya thing. She wanted to become a faceless man but to further her cause and be capable of killing the people on her list and Jaqen wanted to help her or at least felt he could put her on the right path. I feel that Jaqen wanted her to fail but also wanted to give her some of the tools of the assassin. He understands that becoming a faceless man means a life of solitude and devoting your life to the many faced god, He saw something of himself in Arya and knew that there would be a crossroads where she either failed as he had done and become faceless or turned away and moved on as Arya, the smile was him showing that he was proud that she had turned away from the path and would remain the person he admires.
For me at least it was easy to forget how young she was when daddy went choppy choppy. All she had was a sword. A coin and anger. She made a list and it was at that time Jaqen aids her and as a child this imprints on her as he kills one on her list. She escapes the city and tries to make her way home but is hopelessly out of her depth as a child and survives by pure luck. The hound part is highly interesting as he is on her list yet she ends up replying on him and on this goes. The red wedding... going to the Vale.. turning on the hound. Telling Brienne to **** off. She had nowhere at all to go didn't believe anyone so she sailed off. I don't believe the faceless man is what she ever wanted to be she just thought she did. I think jaqen cannot have expected to ever see her again but he did and he took her in but we saw her washing bodies and it took a long time for any real training In fact she found herself in this time. Decided who she was and what she was going to do. I think Cersei is her target and the faceless men may be in the past. This story deviated quite a bit from book as I understand it?
@RogerisontheO'Hunt Finished season 1 of The Affair though it very good. Started season 2 and liked the switch to Helen, she's a good actress. Good so far but only watched one.
