He's comparable to Bentaleb in a lot of ways, given both of them sit deep and spray passes around - although from what I've seen Badelj is certainly better at his defensive duties. The most important thing is that Badelj is capable of playing either as a defensive midfielder (as he does for Croatia or Fiorentina) or a deep-lying playmaker (as he did at Hamburg) meaning he can cover both Dier and Dembele, which is why I'd take him over Wanyama.

I can understand the ranking of most of that list, but it has Sterling at number 16 (£56 million). I am lost for words.

Put it together with Dier at 37--whoah! Scored with a free kick at the Euros, make it 52 million!--and it makes sense. In the hazy world of valuation, young and English is a multiplier. Of course, that still doesn't account for the fact that Dier is clearly a very solid asset for any team, and the jury's out on Sterling.

  4. Fixed!!
In fact, the value of Sterling is heading South by the minute. Pretty much like.....£Sterling!! <laugh>

On the other hand, Dier's value would be much higher if he was HG in the Premier League rather than the Primeira Liga

If he doesn't stop dribbling into clumps of players and wasting great opportunities, a lot of people are going to want to pound Sterling.

    I'll be here all week.

If Sterling is worth £56million then what would Tony Daley (Villa and England under Taylor) be worth? At least he managed to dribble past people. He managed to get all the way to the end of the pitch before dribbling it into the stands and out of the ground. Association footballs own Forrest Gump. That's something only Sterling can dream of.

Former fan favourite Sandro has failed a medical due to chronic knee problems, and his move to Lisbon has consequently collapsed.

Such a shame as his career has careened southward since he left us, but in hindsight I think we can now appreciate the wisdom of the club in letting him go when they did. That horrendous injury he picked up doesn't look like it will ever fully recover.

Here's hoping he can get his career back on track - maybe a move back to his homeland might be wise at this stage.

Alleged Spurs' transfer target, Jonathan Calleri said: “I never said that I will move to Europe for sure. Everybody says that there is something with Inter. Now, I am happy here, I have the possibility to stay and I will talk with the club.Of course, I would like to play in Europe, but I want to stay. I always said that here I am very well and that I am grateful to this club. I will talk to the executives and see what the best thing will be.”

So, that's pretty clear then. We've found our new Leandro Damiao.

    "Next, Please."

Perennial linkee Timo Werner has joined Red Bull Leipzig...so does that mean they're not after Embolo anymore? GET TO IT LEVY!!!

If that wasn't enough incentive to get a bloody move on, Janssen's being linked to Wolfsburg while Dembele II is now being linked with the Nomads as well as the Chavs.

In terms of the out pile, Bentaleb is being linked with Napoli - but only as an alternative to Hector Herrera.

Apparently you're all sorted out to buy Wanyama. Not sure it would be the right move for you or him, personally.

Welcome to the Spurs board, the place where we don't believe anything until we see it playing in a competitive match wearing a Spurs shirt with the correct name on the back.

I am, he's a loose canon who is surely not suitable for us.

Fancy swapping Rojo and Fellaini for Alderweireld and Alli?

I thought he was the best player on the pitch when they beat us at the Lane a few weeks ago.

Yeah, I was a fan of his watching him at Celtic. He had a tough first season with injuries at Soton but he looks quality again now. I know he's picked up a few reds but if we can coach that out of him he'll be an excellent signing.

Getting quality competition for Dier was a must and it also frees up Dier to move back into defence when needed too. If we get him in and a quality striker I'll be very happy, any other signings would be a bonus.

I doubt Wanyama's on-ball ability and temperament to be honest. The again we need a player to cover/compete with Dier and maybe it makes sense to be buying a strong performer from within the league from a club who play in a similar way to us, rather than bringing someone in and gambling on them adapting to the league and the club.

If we sign Wanyama then we probably need to lose a couple of midfielders (Carroll for sure and then Mason or Bentaleb), sign a striker or 2, and sell Fazio and get another CB in the squad - whether thats a new signing or CCV being promoted.

Wanyama for me is another Palacious strong, committed, and full of enthusiasm but I am doubtfull he is cultured enough for our current team. Compared to Dier and Dembele is he a good fit?
