They used to say it was because of his diving and completely overlooked the fact that he was (and is) one of (probably the) best players in the world!! Was a few years ago mind. And I didn;t name names but I remember the arguments we had quite vividly as no-one could think of any reason other than his diving! I've had a quick look through his stats from the last 4 seasons, they've barely moved. Admittedly I don't watch all of Real Madrid's games, but I can't notice him dipping at all I think people might be getting carried away with his previous season, obviously it'd be ridiculous if he kept up that rate of goals in La Liga.
I don't think giving money to charity when you're already crazy rich necessarily has any bearing on personality. Especially when you're a brand like he is with his own PR people. Ronaldo has definitely lost a bit. He's playing more as a forward now so is still banging in the goals and his passing and crossing is still good. What he's lost a bit of is that pure athletiscm.
