Heard on the radio this evening that 43 Russians have been arrested. I really do worry about what will kick off tomorrow, these people may be hooligans but they are not stupid, will they just take the violence outside Lille and Lens? I remember back in the 70's rival gangs used to arrange a venue for a "meet" I have to feel sorry for the Russian players, it's not their fault.
No it's the Russian football federation's and the Russian governments, but unless they get punished nothing will change!
she needs to have a look at events after the recent Hibs-Rangers final. The FA should refuse any tickets for the World Cup in 2 years time and issue a warning for fans not to travel to Russia. Let's hope the worse of the violence is over with in France
Seems the England fans are fighting back (reckon 'Wall' are out there now with their bald 50 somethings). As i have said before in that the hoolies are stupid but i was disgusted with those Russian pigs attacking families and i hope the ones that attacked that Pompey fan get some of their own medicine.
Just think Russia should lose the World Cup end of. Like having the World Cup in Middle Earth but with a racist, homophobic under-waft.
Completely agree. Part of the world cup is revenue in and around the grounds. I consider myself a very keen footie fan but I think you'd be mad to go to Russia in 2 years time, hence less revenue. Black players are almost certain to get overt racist abuse too.
Yes. But be careful what you wish for. You can't ban one country for its hooligans without dishing out the same punishment for other culprits. Let's see if our lot manage to resist the temptation to seek revenge. The Russians seemed to have the advantage over the weekend in that they had not downed 12 pints before kicking off.
Agree Yorkshire a hooligan is a hooligan no matter where they are from, but it's sad that the England fans in the last few years seem to have stopped causing so much trouble away (other than usual isolated incidents). These racist Russian freaks are 20 years behind the rest of the World. They are not interested in the football (that is evident in the lack of shirts and flags). They live in a boring country where they have nothing else to do other than go to the gym with other men and pump each other. I mean how sad turning up to a fight with gum shields and MMA gloves in their gay looking bum bags (no offence to gays). All they did was pick off small groups of drunken English fans who probably weren't out there for trouble. And from what i hearing from people out there, is that they needed French ultras to help them achieve this. However i agree that the WC should not be hosted there. It's a 'wrongun' of a country.
But if it doesn't go ahead there (and Qatar) some FIFA officials might have to give their bribe sorry fairly incurred expenses money back.
Having lived all my life next to russia this doesnt come suprise to me. Firstly, they are 30 odd years behind of the western civilazition in almost everything ( rising racism, football huliganism etc.) and secondly they are boosting their "world power" status in every level. Just worrying what this might end.....Its a another thing to drink beer and doing idiotic things such as throwing plastic chairs and broke windows (as british hooligans usually do) which is as itself embarrasingly stupid and horrendous but then there are these russian thugs who came to euro 2016 just to hit and kick some people as sober and well trained. What is the idea of that????? Get the WC 2018 out of russia as soon as possible. Horrendous country.
This is exactly the solution world football should be seeking. Set up a rival to FIFA and exclude the Rooskies.
I can see it kicking off inside the ground, I don't think these Ultras are bothered about the ban threats.
So can I, although I hope no one gets hurt. I would love to see this lot kicked out of the tournament,
Might be swimming against the tide here but I don't share this anti Russian slant. Yes, the yobs who disgracefully marauded inside and outside the stadium in Marseilles should be arrested and deported but it is important to remember that there were over twelve thousand Russian supporters there and it was only a small percentage who involved themselves in the violence. I agree with the UEFA's stance of expelling Russia if there is any more violent behaviour at their subsequent games but let's retain a sense of perspective here. It's not that long ago that English supporters were vilified worldwide for the actions of some of it's hangers on and that was unfair to the vast majority of fans who went along purely to support the team. Calling them Russian pigs and Ruskies won't do anything to give support to the vast majority of peaceable fans who probably share nationality and birthplace alone with the mindless thugs.
You would have a different view if you were in Marseille with my mates when these so called peaceful fans attacked families.
