If you think that all top players, like Rooney, are in it solely for the money, then you're the one in denial. Sure some of them are, but real winners like Rooney are in it for the glory and trophies too. When he was talked out of leaving us, Rooney accepted exactly the same contract that was already on the table. £180k per week. It was the reassurance from board level that we were going to invest heavily to replace Scholes, Neville and van der Sar that clinched it. You didn't if there was an English team that tout favoured. You lived time in Longsight for a while though... Not City is it?
My uncle has had a season ticket for about 20 years. I am fond of them though hardly a fan. Been to a couple of games. Went to the very last oneat Main Road and felt a wee bit of a fraud seeing all the fans outside not able to go.
Fair enough, but IMO only Man Utd & Chelsea have a chance of winning the title. Liverpool have been busy in the market but if buying players like Adam & Henderson can win you the title I might have to dust my boots off! And Arsenal have spent most of the close season trying to hang on to their top stars rather than adding the 4 or so quality players they need to get in the top 4. Man City got in the top 4 last season and have bought in some quality players in the summer and rumour is they want 2 more before they are happy so are morethan justified to stake a claim as being a top 4 side.
I hate to say it as they're my least favourite side but I think Liverpool are going to be very competitive this season and will push everyone. Of the teams that could surprise people i think West brom will do really well this season and I certainly think they'll be in the top half of the table. I don't get the criticism of Stoke to be honest. Yes they're a physical side but they're not the only ones and if it works for them why should they do anthing differently. Anyway, they still play some decent football at times.
