The French plod need to get a grip. The CRS are basically full time riot police formed in military style companies and they have a reputation for not ****ing about. There's 13,000 of them so you'd have thought that for a game with such potential for trouble as England v Russia the French government would have deployed a couple of thousand at least. No way would it have kicked off like it did if they'd have had sufficient numbers of CRS kitted up inside the stadium.
**** wits. They have given Russia a 150k Euro fine - which will go straight toward lunches and fast cars - with a caveat of any more trouble 'inside' the grounds and you're out. How about they donate that money to this why have been hospitalised following the clashes... Disgrace.
I was in Marseille in 98. Got the ground by metro. Got off at the Stadium and there was a unit of crack Foreign Legion types on the platform staring everyone out. Up the staircase from the platform you emerged into the Jeux Sans Frontieres of glass and bottle throwing with every country seemingly playing their Joker on it. Stuff raining down all around as everyone had to run the gauntlet to get out the station and into the wide Boulevard where it was all going off on all sides. There were groups from various countries involved not just England and the locals. Krauts, Dutch, Swedes etc ...impossible to know which countries they all came from. Utter chaos. Uber chaos in fact. Meanwhile Johnny Gendarme was nowhere to be seen or doing **** all, and the elite Foreign Legion types were all just standing around bored a few yards away down in the metro, probably radioing their boss to say "All quiet here and under control."
Is the balaclava issued at birth in Russia!? Every one of them has got one on....that or a shirt over their heads.

These Russians are trained military types. The average UK supporter doesn't stand a chance. I have been in the British army for 15 years and everything I see and reading confirms this. My advice to the English/Welsh supporters stay in huge groups.
