Sorry about the delay in replying. We are halfway through a 18 day American crossing. We started in New York and will finish in San Francisco on the 23rd. It's very hectic. We still have Salt Lake City, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon,Route 66, Las Vegas, Mojave, Los Angeles, Monterey and others to do before SF. Tomorrow, we are travelling through the Grand Teton NP as we head for Salt Lake City.

Great trip through some awesome landscapes. I was thinking about just flying into denver or Las Vegas and doing a 1500 mile loop to try and take in as many of the national parks as possible in a couple of weeks - perhaps I need to rethink and stretch it to 3 weeks so that I can see a bit more of California. Thats the trouble with the USA, it's so damn big :emoticon-0100-smile

There in 1988 as a 'ticket holder' under police escort. Remember it well for two reasons. My first experience that the police could, and would, charge at the public unprovoked. Secondly a 'mate' asked me to carry one of his bags as we approached police lines, I found out later it had enough cannabis in it to supply wiltshire for a month.

Oh and it was cloudy and I saw Ken Barlow from Coronation St there.

Statement from the club "Southampton Football Club can today confirm it has accepted the resignation of First Team Manager Ronald Koeman, and completed negotiations with Everton over his move to Goodison Park.

The search has already begun for the right appointment who can take the club to the next level and build on our track record of recent success, which culminated in a sixth-place finish in last season's Premier League, as well as qualification for the group stages of the Europa League.

Our focus now is to build on our long-term plan, and work with a new management team who share both the club's and our supporters' values and ambitions."

Interesting photo on the back page of The News showing a half and half Portsmouth and Glasgow Rangers flag of St George with the Loyalist hand in the middle. That is one unholy alliance (Chavs, Pompey, Rangers and Linfield) Maybe Saints should seek a supporter alliance with someone like Porto. Nice country, good wine, great food, wonderful people.

Portugal is lovely and the Portuguese are nice. Porto is a lovely town....took a boat up the Douro, visited a bodega, then took a very picturesque train journey back....and was serenaded by an elderly man. :)

Last week I was over in Bembridge for my annual 'working holiday' over there. I've been for the past 4 years and every single time it's been hot and sunny. If I didn't go over to the Island more often, I'd think it was always Mediterranean.

It's a lovely place. They dig out the channel into Bembridge Harbour every low tide! I've waded from St Helens across the channel to Bembridge before and it wasn't even quite nipple deep.

What is the sea temperature around the IoW coast? Here it is getting better every day. Passed the big toe effort three weeks ago. The sea will be at its best here in mid August and can sustain that until mid September, when the rain arrives and it starts to drop until it is no longer great to have a dip around the beginning of November.

Another temporary change. I suppose we ought to think of a sensible thread title but I am quite enjoying the Panto element of this.

For the life of me I can't remember which entrance I used. All I can recall was me and the ex propping up the hotel bar somewhere inside Raffles drinking on a must-have Singapore Sling. It was so long ago I can't even remember what it tasted like. It was nice though. I do remember the humidity. 30°C seems like a below average day in Singapore. More like 35-38 with full-on humidity. What gets me is the humidity is incredible even when the sky is totally free of clouds.! The Singaporeans don't seem to be phased by it in the slightest. Evenings consist of them going out in full regalia, women and men wearing make up too. Yet not a bead of perspiration. Whereas, us Westerners were wearing the bare minimum and as soon as we exited our air-conditioned hotel the warm moist blanket of air had us dripping.

    Anyway, enjoy it. FLT.
