    Via John Percy

#lcfc offer Riyad Mahrez a new contract worth £100,000 a week. No clause in current deal so price could be £30m+ telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/…

We really need to offer top players that kind of money. If we keep progressing we'll be giving these sort of contracts out 1 a Chuck.
    What's KS on ? I'd give him 100 g's to stay another 5 years.

I think clubs will come in big money and a hell of a lot more per week.

Our top earners should be Schmeichel, Drinkwater, Kante, Mahrez and Vardy

...let them try <laugh> ... love the way the press assume we will let him go for relative peanuts ... United have just signed an Ivory Coast defender for £30 million ... anybody wanting the EPLs most exciting, premier league title winning, creative (and goalscoring) midfielder shouldn't bother testing the water unless they start at £70 million ...<laugh>

... the 'value' of players to a club has to be measuredby what it would take to replace them ... as much as I love Drinky and Kaspar for what they have done (others too) they are replaceable ... the other 3 would be virtually impossible to replace (at this point in time)... Vardy obviously doesn't have as long a shelf life (both in terms of his age and how he plays) as the other 2 .. but ideally we would want to tie them to 2-3 year deals - and silly money clauses should they (their agents) insist on them ...

... in his own words ...

"The season went very well. We have won the league which was very important. It is incredible. It was by far my best season in my career.
"I am not putting pressure on myself (for next season). It will be a season about confirming (my ability). Without pressure, I will have to work hard... Leicester is a family club. I would like to stay. I am very happy.”

So do we mate, but we have all heard comments such as these before - you want to believe it from one of your own players and take with a pinch of salt from players of other teams.

Indeed if a massive club comes in and will double his wages his head will be turned.

I dont think they are easily replaceable.

Signing players of their quality would be hard to find and would cost us more doing it in transfer fees and wages as opposed to giving them new deal

In the last year I dont think there is a better English midfielder then Drinkwater. I think Roy Hodgson is the only person who disagrees but hey ho

And only Petr Cech kept more clean sheets then Kasper
