I'm not defending the man just pointing out how successful a politician he has been and that he remains popular with UK voters.
A success? Fails to get elected and has to resign his leadership. Generally regarded as a crank. His party is even losing ground in your poll. No answer yet to my question?
He seems to be the leading light in the leave campaign that is doing extremely well against all the odds. You may think he is a crank but you also think nearly a third of French voters support a racist party, so your judgement is suspect to say the least.
You have had all day to justify your claims and have failed to do so. I can only assume it was hot air. The leading light? Now you really are off in a flight of fancy. The leading lights are doing their best to sideline him before he opens his mouth again.
The lies are coming thick and fast now - now the headline 'EU. grants will continue if Britain leaves', according to the Brexiters. Do they think that both the EU. and the British electorate are stupid ? At one time I thought that collective brainwashing was something for 'other countries' but not the British.
You did not understand the statement. The leave ministers said the recipients would get the same money, from the UK, not from the EU. Simple maths say there would be funds available when the subsidies to the EU cease. The Sun newspaper has backed the leave campaign, this endorsement used to be a massive boost, maybe not so much now with the internet.
The latest YouGov poll shows leave support has surged to 46%, remain on 39% Martin McGuiness, a former member of the IRA army council has declared support for remain. Just about wraps it up.
The leave ministers have no powers to make such a statement, as if they were speaking as the future government. I see also that the claim is that subsidies would continue, unchanged, until 2020.....and then ? Also, all existing contracts with the EU. regarding financing, free movement of labour etc. would all still exist automatically for the next 2 years (and possibly longer, depending on the speed of negotiations) and could only be null and void after that time - so the promise is rather an empty one. This is another thing which the Brexiters are not saying anything about - there is a very good chance that immigration would rise over the next 2 years in order to beat the deadline. Just think of what you are doing SH. The majority of Business leaders, economists, lawyers, scientists, researchers etc. are all in favour of remain. 75% of the MPs in parliament are in favour of remain. All of the World leaders apart from Putin are in favour of remain......are you going to balance the filth thrown out by The Sun against all of that opinion. If Brexit is asking for the British to take a massive step in the dark, risking one of the biggest recessions of our time simultaneously with a constitutional crisis in British politics then it is up to them to provide facts and evidence for their statements.
I'm not sure the leave side have much more to do than they have done already, whatever they have said seems to have resonated with the British public. It is the remain camp than desperately needs to come up with something to halt leave's current momentum. I'm confident, along with James Dyson and Lord Bamford of JCB, that Brexit is the best option.
How do you know the majority of British lawyers, scientists, researchers are in favour of remaining? Where is the comprehensive survey that shows this detail? As for the Business Leaders, I think it was 32 of the FTSE100 companies joined the Cameron bandwagon, where were the remainder? Perhaps they were a little more circumspect in their opinions - biggest fantasy of them all was the top man at M&S joining the remain campaign. Yes that M&S that has failed to make any progress outside of the UK and is now failing in the UK - that M&S that has seen it's share of the clothing market fall dramatically and has to rely on food sales driven by clever TV ads, and middle aged women buying their knickers there. Just more scare stories being peddled by the political establishment because they are really worried the ordinary people of this country will finally stick 2 fingers up to them - I see Comrade Corbyn is being trotted out today to peddle his utter hypocrisy. Just needs that utter bellend Kinnock to join him...
"The EU takes away from national parliaments the power to set economic policy and hands it over to an unelected set of bankers..." - Jeremy Corbyn
I think I could say UK Parliament takes away from people the power to set economic policy and hands it over to an unelected set of bankers Look at what happened in 2008.... The bankers have it and TTIP further takes power away from 'elected' governments I think we are more at risk going out. It is in the main business people who favour out as far as i can see as an entrepreneur will always seek new markets. However I notice arch-entrepreneur O'Leary publicly advertising to stay in
please log in to view this image I do hope i am wrong but IF we leave we are going to be in for some big problems................
It's the US proposed deal that a massive tribe of lobbyists in Brussels from the large US corporates and bankers (the same bankers that are castigated normally on here) are pushing through. It's the deal that Comrade Corbyn is predicting will lead to the total privatisation of the NHS, yet today he is being wheeled out to tell us to stay in the same cabal that will force this deal on us without our own MP's even getting a vote. The sheer hypocrisy of it all knows no bounds....it's up there with Kinnock taking a seat in The House of Lords.
But they are all at it W_Y . Look at how one minute they are undecided and the next leading a campaign and slagging off their opponents. I look at the BREXIT team leaders and , to me, they seem to be opportunists... The problem is that we remain campaigners cant really say how they would like the EU to change if we stay in... so it is all one-liners etc
The problem with remain is they cannot influence change, it is all stitched up between the Germans and the French. We saw how little Cameron obtained even with the threat of Brexit. If we stay in we are at the mercy of the eurocrats forever. I'm digging holes for a pergola to sit in so I'm pleased about the constant rain breaks and periodic visits to the forum. One more hole to dig!!
''All stitched up by the Germans and the French'' ! When are you going to stop playing the role of ''Britain is like a 7 stone weakling permanently having sand kicked in his face`` ? Yet in other posts tell us how dynamic the country is and how it could make its way without Europe - if Britain is not strong enough to stand up at the negotiating table with Germany and France then it is not strong enough to negotiate on level terms with China or the USA.
Glad you brought this one in Yorkie. You could have added that Britain will not have a seat at the EU. negotiating table in all of this - any deal which they form will be made by a 72% majority of the 27 remaining states. We can be there as observers but have no votings rights - so much for increased sovereignty ! Brexit has also not delivered anything like a manifesto as to how the British government would act after a Brexit vote - which leaves every single one of over a thousand deals needing a majority in the house of commons before it can become Britain's official position. All of that with a majority of 450 - 150 for 'remain' in the Commons, and British industry lobbying constantly for any deal which keeps EU. markets open. A solution such as Switzerland or Norway has leaves us with just as many conditions as before, but no vote. What many people also appear to forget is that there is a difference between those 2 'new' countries which are edging closer to Europe (like potential new lovers) and Britain which will be seeking to divorce a 40 year turbulent marriage.
