I applied for a postal vote a couple of weeks ago as we are away on holiday. i got a reply by post saying that my application had been logged, the wife also got a separate letter saying the same. Now yesterday we both received another letter each saying that our postal vote would be in the post today. So why not just send out the postal vote straight away instead of 6 letters as opposed to 2??? Any other stories of your council wasting monies?
The council are a complete waste of money altogether. ****ing useless bastards. I'd sooner give a pot of cash to a bunch of Polish lads who walk around the city, looking for things to fix, then fix them on the same day.
I worked for the council 1969-1986 Towards the end of the tax year the always found a project to spend (waste money) One week end they went onto some waste land with maybe 10-12 staff all tradesmen. They planted trees and shrubs. Staff double time wages and materials I know cause I was one of them.
It's the same with the MOD mate, waste money on all sorts of **** because if they don't spend it they get less the following year, then you've got lads out in theatre, who don't have adequate kit, what a stupid bunch of ****ers running the show.
Yeh that's true and during the year when you needed some machinery They would say just do it manually

There is a bloke i know works for the council, quite high up and is earning big bucks. The only thing i think he does is organise the Mayors golf day at my golf club, the council invite people from all over the place and he has to make sure they are put up in hotels etc etc, sure he must do something else as well though but just don't know what?
The early years till about 1980 were great basically all jobs were repairs. Not renewals. Then the council layed jobs off to private contractors. They didn't waste time repairing things they just pulled garden walls down,pulled chimneys down,ripped up drives and paths and renewed the lot. We're as a small repair would have done the trick. Why knock a wall down when you can replace a few bricks. That's where all the money and wages whent. Subsequently no work left for me. I was scrtting and scrapping for jobs.bear in mind I was on foot and pushed a barrow with my materials. Sometimes I used my car. The private firms had transport and made a little job big. I still always made my money but it became terrible to get ant decent jobs so I left

There was an article written last year somewhere that said between 25% and 33% of our council tax monies went on paying for council employees pensions? More than happy to be proved wrong but i find this an absolute piss take!
In September 1976 when money was tight" I couldn't aford to pay super anuation as it was called them days out of my about £40 per week wage. I was forced to pay this weekly amount I think about £6 pounds. It made a big difference to my take home pay and we struggled for a while. I continued to pay this reluctantly over the years. I now receive my council pension. My old age pension is in January 2017.i will only receive £127 per week. That is because of this superannuation that I didn't want to pay. I have now been told because I paid that supper anuation I'm not entitled to full old age pension Forced to do something I couldn't afford in 1976 now means reduced oap.
Barmy sets of rules, so you are losing out because of something out of your control? i was told to opt out of SERPS when i was younger then opt back in at a later date? I think now to qualify for a full state pension you have to have x amount of years worth of contributions? i wonder how it works for immigrants who haven't contributed? ( i am logging off now)
My council grows flowers for other councils all over the country, but pays another council to grown theirs. ****ing strangest thing I've ever heard. Don't know if it wastes money. Just strange.
City of York Council have to be one of the most corrupt and wasteful set of ****ers I have ever come across.... Well, until I had to deal with Oxford. Now they all need killing with fire.
Our village here in Cumbria has just implemented a,parking scheme in the road for the 20 or so houses, which took us nearly eight years to get the go ahead. Our permits were duly issued and the name of our village was misspelt by one letter. Our local councillor is insisting the council write a letter of apology to all those households involved, and then renew the permits with the correct spelling. Have you ever heard anything so stupid, we aren't bothered about the spelling mistake and are just happy to have our permits after such a long fight for them, totally bonkers.
