Yann M’Vila’s future could become clearer next week, with the Rubin Kazan squad due to assemble for the start of pre-season training. Both Sunderland and M’Vila himself have made it clear that they want the Frenchman to return to the Stadium of Light this coming season after his highly successful loan spell with the Black Cats, starting 36 of 38 Premier League games last term.

But M’Vila has another six months remaining on his contract with Kazan and, despite negotiations with the midfielder’s agent, the Russian club are not expected to terminate that deal early to allow him to join Sunderland on a free transfer.

Sunderland face having to pay a fee, even if that is not likely to be huge due to the brevity of his remaining contract and Kazan’s acceptance that his career at the club is over.

However, new Kazan boss Javi Gracia wants all of the club’s players – including those who have been out on loan – to report back for pre-season duty next Monday.

Even if Sunderland do agree a fee with Kazan, the bigger issue over re-signing M’Vila could be whether the Black Cats can finalise personal terms with the 25-year-old, who has also attracted interest from several other Premier League sides.

M’Vila’s contract at Kazan is worth more than £100,000 a week, with Sunderland understood to have contributed less than a third of that huge sum during his season-long stint on Wearside.

Despite his eagerness to return, M’Vila would still have to take a huge pay cut, with Sunderland’s top earners currently around the £60,000-a-week mark, albeit the club’s coffers will be boosted by the new TV deal.

Manager Sam Allardyce has been under no illusions about the challenge of re-signing M’Vila though, with Sunderland determined to overcome the hurdles.

He said last month: “It will be difficult, but we’ll try. That is one of the priorities.”

We have to tread lightly here, just pleased that Maggie B is no longer involved, its a case of wait and see, taking one step at a time, while looking out for alternatives, if, and I hope we don't, have to get along without him.

He's not going to get close to 100k again. He should come and Take 50k here.

I would be happy with that, and chuck a few bonuses in if need be. I like most fans would be overjoyed if he did sign, as I think he has done well, and is the fabled "next level" imo.

Was there nothing tied up within the contract when we signed him on a season long loan??

As long as hes more consistent with his performances id be over the moon to have him here.
After an amazing start his form dipped drastically the final few months of the season and he was like the invisible man during some matches.

May be a fee arranged but there won't have been anything contractual preagreed. He now can sign a pre contract with us to join in January. But we want him here for the start of the season.

    Tees,
Think he just ran out of steam somewhat, considering his inactivity football wise prior to him coming here it's not surprising, if we get him.and he has a proper pre-season on top of the games he played last season then we should see him playing to his full potential next season. Here's hoping.

Disagree myself when you consider everything. He had better players around him after Christmas. He should never be the stand out player if he has enough quality around him. He's a head down and do his job quietly and effectively sort of player.

He was only stand out at the start of the season because he was playing next to the likes of Ola and in front of the likes of Coates. Of course he stood out, he's was a piece of class around grade A ****e. Then suddenly he had better quality round him. Much better quality.

Also he's used to a mid winter break. He played a lot of games last season without the rest he'd usually get every season. Plus he hadn't been playing many games either prior to the move

But he was still our top cm by quite away, top passer, top tackler, Top of arial duels, interceptor, most key passes. He was the boy last season for me like.

Don't know how fault can be found from an outstanding Debut Premier League season. Best DM I've ever seen at the club. He's certainly never disappeared. He tired but still did his job effectively.

If he's got the quality around he will blend but never disappear.

Agreed, he tired and his form dropped slightly as a result but that was only for a couple of games and he finished the season strongly. I don't see a problem with him going missing in games, it was just a minor fitness issue which should be sorted by the start of next season.

    Class player.

Yes your both probably right. I just remember feeling abit frustrated some games because he didnt seem to be on the pitch.
He'll be alot more prepared for the Prem next season aswell once hes had a full pre season.

He definitely hit a wall like, but that was always going to happen, but I think he got through the wall and thought he finished the season very strong. Infact everyone getting game time finished the season very strongly.

If Kazan do release him instead of loaning out again, which I'd expect to happen, he's going to be expecting to have his wages matched to last season, at the very least, especially so if there's a scramble from several clubs to sign him.

If we do manage to get him it'll represent a massive statement of intent from the board.

His popularity here should be a massive feel good factor for him plus we resurrected his faltering football career.
He could be part of an awaking sleeping giant - at least he won't have a dull moment - :emoticon-0148-yes:

A lot of these guys don't give a **** whether they're popular or not.

They're more concerned how many zeroes there are on their weekly pay, and how they get compared to others in the club

Popularity doesn't expand their bank accounts.

Yeah but Mvilla does'nt seem like a typical football mercenary - he's got a bit of the attitude I like - he's his own man and we saved his career. Club seemed to handle his inItial faux pas quite well behind the scenes. YM has seen how our fans value commitment and our fanatical support. ...... imooc.

He didn't go to Russia for the sun and prestigious football marra. There are certain leagues which players only choose for the money. Russia is one of them.

I agree just think his career derailed and he was sucked in by money - but after a bad experience there and support of our club maybe I fancifully /wrongly think he'll want to stay.
    We'll soon find out
