Probably not. But we also don't have shops where you can buy automatic weapons with a credit card and a driver's licence.
Owen Jones storms off set in the SKY news review last night. Jones said the attack was aimed at the LGBT community. The Sky presenter and Julia Hartley-Brewer said sure, but it's also another example of young people killed for enjoying themselves like in Paris. Jones (who is gay apparently) didn't know any of those killed, yet he reacted in a pretty hysterical way, when a more measured approach would have surely been more appropriate. Diane Abbot has come out in his support.
The gun laws, or lack of them, in this country are ludicrous, however as we've seen in other western countries if you're mad enough to to want to commit these murders then you can always get weapons anywhere.
seems strange when you can go into and out of a shop in a high street and set off a security alarm (even by entering) and yet there is nothing to protect against guns in nightclubs. On Friday I went out with some young friends and I got asked for ID and was searched before going into a nightclub. (I am in my 40's FFS) so hardly likely to start any trouble.
He's also a defender of Islam, so it must have been pretty stressful for the fella when the ideology you defend specially targets and kills 50 members of your own community.
There probably were metal detectors, however, I doubt they would have deterred a heavily armed nutter, hell-bent on a massacre. Reports suggest the security guard raised the alarm and there was shooting between them before he went inside.
