So you dont like all this, yet Turkey are going to enter the EU with 2.5 million Syrians with passports provided to them by the Tukish Governement and a tide of people will head this way very very soon. Councils have their hand ties and are unable to influence change because of the EU. A vote to remain is a vote for more mosques, more polski sklep's more turkish takeaways. A Vote to Remain Is A Vote to Keep Cameron & Osborne!
If you think Turkey is going to be in a position to join the EU in the near future, you're mistaken. Their human rights record and issues with rule of law, democratic process and freedom of the press would definitely stand in their way currently, and Erdogan is moving towards Putin style authoritarianism which makes it less and less likely it's going to happen. Meanwhile, if we leave, we'll need to negotiate access to the common market, which will probably come with joining Schengen/granting access in any case, making your point irrelevant. The EU will seriously have us over a barrel if we go, because they know we will need to sort the deal within 2 years or end up with nothing, added to the fact they need to send a clear message to any other countries considering leaving.
We need to take back power. We are more than capable of standing on our own two feet. I see the Dutch are talking about an referendum now also.
Several other countries will follow should we leave the EU. The Dutch and Danes are already talking about it.
In! Not heard a shred of credible agrgument to back the leave campaign, and reading this thread, most of the arguments seem to hinge on the misguided idea that leaving the Eu will magically stop all immigration.
Don't worry, the Conservatives are going to get immigration down to the tens of thousands.............aren't they?
Tens of thousand truck fulls I reckon. Saw a pic yesterday of a full truck and one of them was wedged between the cab and the trailer flying down the motorway at 70.
Hmm I will remind you of that the next time you pull out some stats to 'prove' your point about a NUFC vs SAFC debate. "Depends on what day it is" It certainly does with you!
Turkey were on the list of countries who were initially recommended to join the EU in 2006. I finished my Law degree in 2004 and it was vaguely acknowledged that although they could 'in theory' be in a position to join by that date they needed to complete a variety of different things (like abolish the death penalty, etc.) before they could be considered. 12 years later they are no closer to joining the EU. The misinformation pushed regarding this, now that is scaremongering and a plain and simple lie. There's no other word for it. Also, we are one of the few countries with a veto - we can stop plenty of things happening which we do not like. If we leave we obviously lose this. The EU will continue to make economic and political decisions which affect us massively, we just will not be invited to the discussions any more. It's like the player whose team are losing so gets himself sent off - it's gutless. Remain here
yeah we have 8% of the vote so a massive influence which see's britain lose out on near enough every vote undertaken. Turkey will join the EU and yeah it's been talked about for ages, but watch it will happen and alot sooner than most people think.
