Shearer is getting some flack for saying Kane should have refused to take corners.

I agree it seems bizarre that Kane is taking corners as a centre forward (and the only striker on the pitch) but I have a theory as to why.

I reckon Hodgson told Kane he needed to be on the end of every corner ball, but didn't specify which end.

Kane is twice the size of that little waster Sterling yet Sterling is in the area looking to get on the end of the balls.
    Nuts.
Andros would have been a better option than Sterling.
Shearer had a very valid point IMHO.

If none of the other 9 outfielders can kick it above head height and thus cannot take corners, then we may as well resign our place in the tournament.

Sterling looked out of his depth from what I saw.Townsend would have done much better yesterday.

Taking Rooney off was daft too, but not bringing on Vardy at all... shows Woy really is clueless. Not gonna beat Switzerland and not getting out of the group imo.

    Sterling couldn't cross a road

Shearer is right, wtf is Kane doing taking corners? Most of them against Russia were far too deep ffs.

To be fair, Sterling kicks the ball like a 5 year old.

But why Lallana can't take one is beyond me, or even Rose/Rooney.

I'd love to sit down and ask Woy/Kane what the thinking is because I've not seen 1 fan be able to come up with a sensible reason why he is taking wide free kicks and corners.

Apparently Kane takes corners because he is 'the best' corner taker we have, according to Roy. Well then let the ****ing second best corner taker take the ****ers so that we can have our best striker in the ****ing box when they come in!! Shearer is spot on imho.

The powers that be wonder why England are laughable. It's laughable. Imagine Shearer taking corners. Question from me is "why is Kane not saying no"?

Dier scored a good free kick, but Kane shot over the top why did Dier not continue taking the free kicks ?

You cannot refuse to take corners. That's a bit silly from Alan. However a senior committee of players should have pointed out to Woy that his idea was ******ed. Essentially though the thought process of your manager should not require this, because he shouldn't be suggesting such ridiculous things. Kane should have been subbed by half time/60mins anyway - he should never have started because they should have assessed his condition long before that first game. Forget him now, he looks leggy and shot from a long season playing a lot of games. Unfortunately that is the problem with a 22 yr old playing two full seasons in a row, the 2nd including a european campaign, and having had an U21 tournament in between. The lack of a break has caught up with him. Now we can plough on blindly if we really want to but Sturridge and Rashford are fresh.

Add in we now have our main strikers on corners. Seriously if one of those midfielders can't take a corner we shouldn't have bothered. You need Dier, Cahill, Kane, Smalling attacking the ball. That much is obvious to a blind man. I understand a desire to have Rooney on the edge to pick up scraps as he is the best striker of a ball. However Alli has shown himself adept at these situ's all season so why not ask Rooney who will deliver quality to take the ****ing corners! This is where a specialist dead ball taker (every squad has one) is useful. You have to wonder what is going on with us in some regards, we've gone from the likes of Beckham, Gerrard etc to not having one. England are the Newcastle of international football in terms of squad building <laugh> I don't know what is going on in the think tank out there but at present, it seems we are hindering ourselves. If we can't even spot these basic obvious signs then we might as well go home now.

Our general play was ok and we'll probably squeak through, but the better teams will beat us. I can't see us getting beyond the QF - likely Portugal. Woy should have have brought on Vardy or even Rashford for Sterling. Instead we went negative with Milner (who should only be deployed centrally). The others would have stretched them and taken the pressure off us, likely nicked a 2nd.

Things have to change. Kane has to stop taking corners. Said some nonsense about the best striker of a ball - ffs, get the second, third and fourth best strikers of a ball taking them, and the best finisher in the fcking box. Idiotic. Also, justified comments from here on Sterling, useless fecking boy he is. Him, Wilshere should not be there. Drinkwater and Townsend should have gone on merit.

I never though we could do well in this tournament, but if we dont get out the group that sits entirely with Woy.

Good summary, same old England - players not playing on merit, no decisiveness from management just blind loyalty, square pegs in round holes.

Need changes for Wales, got to attack with purpose and not be exposed. Midfield three worked fairly well, front three did not. Lallana at least showed nice enough touches, but missed two good chances. We're severely lacking up there and are trying to play a Premier League formation without being able to call up Coutinho, Erikson, Hazard, Willian, Ozil, or whoever else is needed to play behind/off a main striker. Not sure who I'd go with - maybe Sturridge up front, Rashford left and stick with Lallana (because theres no Townsend to try). We do miss Welbeck, unfortunately, because he plays that left sided role as well as anyone we can call on. Could Rashford do it? Or is he too likely to drift up top? I see some kind of 4-3-3/4-4-2 hybrid. You have the front six sort of rotating clockwise, with Lallana dropping wide-ish right, Alli wide-ish left and Rooney in the middle with Dier to accomodate Rashford being nearer the main striker, Sturridge.
