Creasing. With the resource they have Sky should be immense but they have got some woeful characters on there. Crofty belongs on a TV set with that numpty Rachel, so they can wax lyrical about Hamilton with the cardboard fans in the studio environment. Lazenby is about as ordinary as a boiled egg and he too is on thin ice I should imagine. Brundle needs a passionate, strong voice to sit behind in the commentary box because Crofty just seems to lean on Brundle for knowledge- they have a conversation as opposed to providing exciting commentary.
Ben Edwards is underrated. Passionate when he needs to be, and stays quiet when DC or Lee have something important to say.
Ferrari threw another race away again today. Vettel making uncharacteristic mistakes too, is he starting to get frustrated? In good news, Ferrari, at least in Vettel's hands do look like they have closed the gap on Merc. RB too, given this isn't really their track. We could be in for some close races for the rest of the year. Championship falling into Hamilton's lap again though, can't see anyone anyone else getting into the fight,
I don't think so..Vettel didn't put enough distance between himself and Hamilton before pitting so early. Also remember Mercedes did most of their testing on the yellow tyre and they knew Hamilton could do that stint without much trouble once he was in front...if he was following it would have been different but the last stint Vettel was punishing his tyres lap after lap while Hamilton could push cool off and push again that's why he was still doing quick after 47 laps on the same tyres. Vettel wasn't gaining enough after pushing really hard. People saying Ferrari gave Hamilton the win..I think it was a great drive...he hardly made a mistake except for yet another slow start...Vettel did make a couple trying to catch him. By the way, I don't think this discussion would have been an issue if Hamilton was getting the Lightning start he had last season.....if he were getting those starts I don't think Vettel would have gotten anywhere near close to him...in fact Hamilton was killing everybody in sector 1 in qualifying, so I am sure if he had a proper start he would have taken off.
havn;t you been paying attention since 2011? He can crowd whoever the **** he likes, jump across as many chicanes as he wants to take/retain a lead and no one will say anything because he'll play the race card and all the brainwashed chavs will cry foul
I think Ferrari better start winning before Mercedes get their starts sorted out.... Something is definitely not working at the start..last year they are lightning out the blocks along with the Williams...something is definitely wrong and they can't put a finger on it after six races...that's not good enough. It s better that way though, it will give us a better fight and make the races more exciting.
A good race… – Tantalising for the first two thirds until Vettel's overdriving errors. Maybe a bit of a shame for the neutral onlooker because maybe we were deprived of a grand finalé but Hamilton's measured response to what was a very real threat, was in my view, pretty classy – notwithstanding yet another very poor start. On the other hand, after the first corner incident which demoted Rosberg to 9th, what should have been his recovery drive to a podium or 4th at worst was scuppered by what I believe was a slow puncture – even if he'd been able to despatch the opposition more quickly. Bottas did a great job: a very well deserved podium. Verstappen is continuing to demonstrate value in being promoted through the ranks in surely what will become an illustrious career. Ricciardo is enduring a bad run but it's easy to sense he's feeling his nose more than a little out of joint in the aftermath of his previous team-mate being replaced and what's since happened on his side of the garage. Hopefully, karma will repay him as the season continues but he needs to keep his pecker up! Räikkönen was once again second-rate. He is not doing justice to Ferrari's ever-improving car. I think his career was over-extended (a very long ago!) by some odd thinking at Maranello but surely his time is now done? Surely 2016 will be his final bow? I believe the gap between Mercedes and Ferrari was properly demonstrated by Hamilton and Vettel – not Rosberg and Räikkönen; and Ferrari's interesting strategy may have skewed the result, suggesting that at this circuit they were actually neck and neck. Red Bull are also very close. Despite their current power disadvantage, I think their drivers can have realistic expectations of winning as the season progresses.
So you think the first corner incident was a punishable offence? Other than your usual race rant, as in colour not the actual GP that took place, you haven't made your position clear on it. It's a shame you have to keep vomiting up such bile as when you contribute properly to the forum, what you have to say is usually worth reading.
The sort of comment I like to see from a driver. Vettel: And actually I enjoyed the race a lot. Didn’t get the result I was hoping for, especially after the start, but I was enjoying it a lot. The last 30 laps I was just flat out – maybe pushing a little bit too hard at times. It just felt great. That’s what racing should be about. The tyres were fairly consistent. I really enjoyed chasing him down but a couple of laps to go I realised that he was just a bit too quick or the tyres didn’t drop enough.
Didn't the rules about clutch paddles change for 2016? I seem to remember that they used to use dual paddle clutches and they had the engineers set them via practice start data and steering wheel controls. For 2016 I don't think they are allowed to receive data from engineers on setup and the second paddle can't be used as a sort of traction control like they used to. So seems like Merc have not got a great system for standing starts. I remember a few races ago Merc were working with Daimler to improve the clutch system. So looks like they have not produced a good system yet. Ferrari need to capitalise on the few Merc weakness while they can. As the season goes on Merc will fix their clutch starting issues and find improvements on their PU.
You're right, there has been a change. Hamilton has definitely not got a grip on it still as Rosberg was still able to have a run at him even with such a short run to the first corner. Ferrari have clearly nailed their system! Not sure what Mercedes can do about it, to help both drivers and not just Hamilton, without a complete redesign of the clutch/gearbox system. Have they just got it wrong this year? With Ferrari and RBR getting closer and closer, soon their tardy starts will cost them races (even assuming their drivers don't keep crashing into each other).
