They're not singing the songs at the games though, they're turning up on the local streets pished and doing it. Look at every other nation: none of them have this backward fascination with WW2. According to a bar owner the English were behaving in the square when around 300 Russians pretty much organised an attack from a side street. I'm not suggesting the English are completely innocent but I am suggesting it was a planned attack. Then Police just chuck tear gas in causing chaos. What you going to do stand around with your hands by your side and do nothing or fight your corner, because no other **** is going to defend you.

They weren't rioting in the streets, they were reacting to the police who targeted them with tear gas and baton charges when they'd done **** all wrong.
