So he's gone for Howson over Nunez and McCormack as a lone striker

C C C C Clueless. How can Ramon be on the bench, he's been excellent in pre season, He deserves to be in front of all the midfieilders based on his performances, Grayson stop being a fool

It's a pre-season game. Unlimited subs. All the players who come on today have a chance to stake their claim for a place in the starting lineup.

It's pre season you clown. These are games to build up match fitness - Nunez has played in a every game and he'll probably come on at half time anyway.

LOL Kisnorbo has outscored both center forwards in pre season, We really need a loanee to come in. This is the last game so it'll be something like this

2 years ago, Newcastle lost 5-1 to Leyton Orient but then went on to win the league. Pre Season means nothing.

lol everyone was calling for Nunez to play and now he's done well in pre-season people are saying "well he's not better than Howson". I personally don't care who is better or who plays as long as they do the business for Leeds United :)

Having said that I haven't been Howson's biggest fan in recent season's - blows hot and cold but I thought he really stepped up last season!! Expecting another good season from him!!

He's played every game so far, & it's about building up fitness. Nunez is on now QSS, so stop whining.

Apparently Howson was MotM and according to quite a few people who have seen all the games Clayton was the outsdanding performer in pre-season out of the whole team, never mind the midfield. QSS, I think you owe SG an apology...

But it's also an opportunity for players to stake their claim. And, unlike QSS, I think it's Brown, Clayton and Howson who have done that.

Newcastle came to ER to win today. This was a tough match, and I am really pleased we got the win. Make no mistake, Leeds have a very good team that should be heading for auto, but Grayson seems to struggle to get consistency from his players. That is ultimately what a manager's job is....to get his starting eleven to all perform at the best of their ability in every match. This is Grayson's biggest shortcoming at ER thus far. Paul Lambert had Norwich performing at their best two seasons on the trot, so why not Leeds? This lack of consistency is the only worry I have. Our boys can play....just ask the Arsenal. They just don't play every week.

Howson had a fantastic game and has earned his place in the team. Nunez can play Tuesday nights or whatever. And McCormack on his own didn't really work; would rather see Paynter there to be honest.

This team is crying out for a Mark Viduka type player,or even a Michael Bridges, someone with the ability to hold the ball up & bring our attacking midfielders into play. Find a player of that ilk & this league is ours for the taking.

Whether he scores or not I think Billy Paynter does that, and Becchio will certainly do that when he comes back.

Yes I know that, but just because they fill that role doesn't mean we can't improve that position, get someone in with more quality.
Even the best teams constantly look to improve,& that's the one area of the team that we could certainly improve.
A Berbatov or a Drogba type of player, someone of real quality. Obviously not those two before someone shouts me down, but a player like that.
Perhaps Mendy could be the answer, could be played up front. Hope we sign him, looks decent.
