Excellent news. I doubt whether he'll travel full time but just having him around will make such a difference. Roll on Queens and Wimbledon!
http://news.sky.com/story/1710712/orlando-nightclub-terror-attack-leaves-20-dead Thought to be terrorist related. Why can't people be tolerant. You are entitled to your thoughts and beliefs, but I believe in anything that increases the sum total of human happiness. The pursuit of happiness is part of the American ideals and I believe strongly that people can do what they like as long as it doesn't impinge on others equal right to happiness. This was just people having a good time....what kind of miserable world do these terrorists want. Who wants a god that wants to remove joy from the world...religion should add to your happiness by making you a better and kinder person. Otherwise you are better off without it. You are responsible for your own 'souls' not someone else's. People like this man are more like devil worshippers.
Totally depressing. Assault rifle again .............. Let them but muzzle loading flintlock muskets legally and nothing else. That would stop most of these appalling things happening.
So much organised religion forgets the joy thing and concentrates more on the hate thing. Maybe there are risk factors in human DNA that makes some people more susceptible to religion, hate or violence and some people have all three. Strange how they see homosexuality as more of a sin than killing people. "Good people can do good and bad people can do evil. But for good people to do evil -- that takes religion"
And they regard it better to kill a woman than have her disobey you....be an awful lot of dead women in Britain if that was the case. And how can you feel it is better to kill a child than to feel dishonoured. Where is the honour in that? Have to include one proviso...there are many. many Muslims who wouldn't agree with the above. And also remember that some wild pro-lifers in America think it is okay to kill people if they work in an abortion clinic. I have what you might call a religious tendency...churches make me feel spiritual and Christ's teaching (not others interpretations of his teachings) appeal to me, but everything I feel is for me...I have no wild desire to inflict it on others.
Dear God, that's tragic and will do nothing to change the minds of the "I've got a constitutional right to arm myself so we need to be able to buy guns as easily as a pack of candy" brigade
Of course it doesn't occur to them that an attacker restricted to knives would have to be carrying at least 50 of them and be deadly accurate from a distance too. Which isn't going to happen outside of Hollywood. They pay a huge price for having the ability to resist their own government in an armed battle. Is it really worth it.? Nobody with any measure of sanity would think so. They just like guns. That's the real motivation. Is it time to wheel out Jim Jefferies.?
I've just caught up with he Grand Prix. He really is the grandest of grand prix isn't he? Did he really just do the Ali shuffle? FFS.
50 killed at shooting in the Orlando gay bar, with over 50 more injured. The killer is Omar Shateen. The father says his killing was not motivated by religion, but his anger at the fact a gay couple embraced each other in front of him. Sigh...
IS were quick to take credit, even though there was no direct connection with the bloke. Maybe they inspired him. But the USA provided him with his rifle and ammunition. Even after twice being under FBI scrutiny.
It's very sad indeed, but we need to understand what is actually happening. Moslems, amongst others, have been told that their religious duty is to oppose secular values of equality and freedom. We need to fight this, not through legislation, but through society-wide disapproval. If I think about attitudes to, for example drink-driving, divorce, gender equality, gay rights and transgender recognition, the progress came through people, often without a personal stake, standing up and being counted. We need to stop the "cultural accommodation" of unacceptable behaviours and call it like it is. Saying of things like FGM, honour killings and institutional mysoginy that "it's their culture" is simply not good enough. We need to help reformers within faith communities to stand up for human rights. We have already done that wrt traditional Christian views. It's time for us to stop being apologetic and call out medieval attitudes wherever they manifest themselves.
Just watched tonight's Top Gear. Enjoyed the segments by all the new presenters this week, particularly the 2nd one (Chris Harris). Really showed up Chris Evans for me as the weak link currently. Really think moving forward they should give more air time to the new guys Chris, Rory and Sabine, along with Matt. Wouldn't worry too much about not inviting Eddie Jordan back either!
Le Blanc is growing into his role as presenter. He's still rough around the edges, but being an actor, he'll get it. Chris Evans just needs to cut down on the laser beam voice. He's OK otherwise, though I like the sound of Jenson Button being a presenter. That could be fun. But then where do you put The Stig.? Perhaps they could persuade Guy Martin to stand still long enough.? Then we'd surely get some bikes as well. Sabine is just great.
